Britney Spears Calls New Doc About Her Life 'Really Disturbing'

Singer Britney Spears is joining Sam Asghari in firing back at a new documentary about her life called "Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom."

The controversial special aired last Monday and took a look at Britney's life after her conservatorship, which ran from February 2008 to November 2021. The special took a long at Britney's day-to-day activities, along with her marriage to Sam and her mental health.

Most of the comments paint an unflattering picture of the 41-year-old pop star, so much so, that Britney said her friends called her up expecting her to be "laughing" at the things that were being said.

On Thursday night, the "Hold Me Closer" singer took to Instagram to share a photo of a woman gazing off into the distance with patches underneath her eyes. "Thinking about when I was a teenager and I'd ride in the trunk of my friends car to a party at a gravel pit, sleep just fine on a hard floor and eat McDonalds whenever I wanted, and now I have a 13-step skincare routine, go to bed by 9:30, workout daily [...] and eat mostly plants."

It looks like Britney crossed off whatever else was written on the photo, but her point remains the same. Times change, and the person that she is now isn't the person that had a public meltdown in 2007, a year before her stifling conservatorship. In the caption, Britney began, "Considering what happened to me during the conservatorship and how hard I work every day to be a better person since it’s been over !!!"

She then took aim at the media outlet that produced the special. "The concern and just effort on TMZ’s part of being the trashiest news channel for news !!! D*mn I’m flattered !!!" she wrote. "These men who I have no idea who they are, are talking about me as if they have any right at all to do so !!!"

It appears that, at least, all of Britney's friends know that the allegations made in the documentary had very little truth to them, as Britney wrote, "My girlfriend called me and said 'Because I know you I was laughing at these men and what they were saying' !!! But she also said it was really disturbing how incredibly conniving and foolish it was !!!"

Britney went on to say that "The media has always been cruel to me and most people probably wouldn’t even comment on it but I do think some people might believe this and I care !!! I almost feel like my life in the business has always been that girl at school who was bullied and laughed at !!! But in my case there is no superior person to set it straight !!!"

Britney then took aim at her father, Jamie Spears, who was one of the main people who controlled her finances, her career decisions, and her life during her conservatorship. "My dad was supposedly the one who was supposed to protect my mind and heart from things of this matter but he was the main one who was secretly loving it !!!" she wrote before addressing her memoir, which is reportedly facing delays due to legal reasons.

"I think some people are wanting to hear my story … either through a book or what have you ??? I’ve had to stop a couple of times !!!" she wrote. "It may take me a year, maybe longer who knows … to share my story !!!"

She then capped off her post with advice that she got from her grandmother, writing, "My great-grandmother told me two things that I will never forget !!! People come here for two reasons … either for a lesson or a blessing and she said 'Dear sweetheart the real key to happiness is to forget every f*cking thing that ever happened' !!! It’s a new day y’all !!!"

It sounds like, although she isn't happy about what was said about her in the special, Britney is trying to look the other way and move on with her life.
