Britney Spears’ ‘Groundbreaking’ Memoir Reportedly Delayed

Singer Britney Spears has completed her memoir, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer to read it.

Although previous reports said that the 41-year-old pop star's memoir would be released later this year, just in time for the holiday season, it looks like it is being delayed due to legal concerns about some of the things she says in her book.

On Sunday, The U.S. Sun revealed that publishing house Simon & Schuster reportedly received several “strongly worded legal letters” from individuals who are concerned about what Britney might say in her new memoir.

“Britney is brutally honest in the book — there are a lot of nervous A-listers,” an insider told the outlet. “Strongly worded legal letters have been sent to the publishers by people who know Britney and who fear what she has written.”

The insider said that there is “no movement” on the book “at the moment.” They also indicated that it remains unknown whether “it will eventually be able to come out,” or if it will even be cleared for publication at all.

“Britney wants this to be her moment she talks to the world, to tell her side of the story and set the record straight,” a source told the Sun. “There’s a fair amount of throwing people under the bus, talking about past relationships, some of whom will be revealed for the first time ever."

"Britney lived her life in the public eye, but there are relationships and people she had encounters with who she managed to keep under the radar, including some massive film-star names and people from the music world," they added. "She has wanted to go all out with this book and tell her truth, and that’s what has people worried.”

Just last month, Page Six reported that Britney's memoir would be released this fall, although now that seems likely. Insiders who have already seen the manuscript told the outlet that her book is now only “inspiring,” but is also expected to be a “groundbreaking instant best-seller.”

“Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – being a little girl with big dreams – her break-up with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship,” one source claimed.

“It is also a story of survival, finding her way out of the crippling conservatorship to finding happiness with her husband Sam Ashgari,” they went on. The couple started dating in 2016 after meeting on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video and tied the knot in June 2022.

Another source said that Britney's memoir was “a gift” to fans of the "Toxic" singer, adding, “There are parts of this book that every person—particularly every woman—can relate to and feel less alone. She transforms joy and pain into something transcendent: art.”

“This is an inspiring read, not only because it shows the strength of Britney’s spirit, but because her story is told with such style, wit, intelligence, honesty, and without any self-pity,” they continued. “She is entirely winning in these pages.”

They said that the book will “shake the world,” adding, “I believe that it will also be a groundbreaking instant bestseller.” Another source said that “Britney’s book is brutally honest and from the heart. No stone is left unturned. It’s truly a female empowerment story – her taking control of her life.”

Fans will have to wait for the memoir to be released to see how much was written by Britney and how much was written by a ghostwriter. The outlet reported that the "Hold Me Closer" singer has been working with ghostwriter Sam Lansky to complete her novel. Lanksy has also profiled Hollywood stars like Madonna and Adele.

The “Oops!...I Did It Again” singer's book deal is estimated to be worth a record-breaking $15 million dollars, which would make it the most expensive book deal in history. The deal is reportedly even more lucrative than the deals signed by both Barack and Michelle Obama.

That being said, this new report brings into question when, if ever, Britney's book will ever get to be released. Fans have noticed that the "Gimme More" singer has been surprisingly quiet about the release of her new memoir on Instagram and has not even revealed a title for the highly-anticipated book.

That being said, it's possible that she will get to tell her story in a different way.
