Jack Harlow has no plans of leaving after getting a taste of Hollywood.
The rapper, who officially made his acting debut in the upcoming film, "White Men Can't Jump," has opened up about his experience and plans regarding the venture during a recent interview. The sports-centered project is set to premiere on Hulu this Friday — May 19. He had previously become a worldwide sensation following the release of his single, "First Class," in 2022.
Jack Harlow Has Found A New & Different Love After His First Hollywood Experience
Amid the impending release of "White Men Can't Jump," Harlow has revealed the complexities of acting after many years of being an artist in the studio. The 25-year-old rapper even hinted at certain limitations he faced in hip-hop and why working would become more permanent during a question and answer session in New York.
Kickstarting the conversation, the MTV Music Video Award winner stated, "Through this film, I was able to gain my confidence as an actor, and to me, this s--- is not a side quest. This isn't a side mission I'm taking on to keep the entertainer thing going and make some extra money."
He explained that he "really got the bug and fell in love with this," adding that he has developed a "deep passion for the craft" in the same way that he had done for music. The chart-topping artist then expressed his desire to go into acting after "White Men Can't Jump."
Although he admitted that acting is "way harder than music," Harlow could not dispute that he experienced a new type of "freedom" in Hollywood that was missing from his music-making process.
"It's funny; I consider myself an authentic artist. I tell the truth on the mic, but maybe sometimes I feel some slight constraints in hip-hop because there's a tradition to it, and I know I'm a guest in the genre," he further detailed per PEOPLE.
The Generation Now signee stars as Jeremy in "White Men Can't Jump," a remake of the 1992 comedy film with the same title. Harlow got his first attempt at acting when he appeared on Saturday Night Live in 2021.
The hip-hop celeb had performed alongside actor and comedian Pete Davidson, who helped him secure the gig. For the sketch, which saw the pair talking about non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Davidson parodied Eminem's 2002 hit "Without Me," wearing the rapper's famous Robin costume.
They also enlisted the help of stand-up comedian Chris Redd while breaking down the meaning of NFTs and their impact at the time. An appreciative Harlow later gushed about Davidson's impact on him appearing on the late-night show claiming that it was "a genuine dream come true for me and my family."
The Billboard Music Awards Winner Was Romantically Linked With Dua Lipa
Shortly after the "I'd Do Anything to Make You Smile" released his album in 2022, speculations that he and Dua Lipa were an item began circulating. The rapper had named a song after the "One Kiss" singer, prompting increased communication between them.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, the rapper had subtly shot his shot, revealing that he "admires" the 27-year-old. He had done the same thing on the abovementioned song, where he belted out, "Dua Lipa, I'm tryna do more with her than do a feature."
As things turned out, the pair finally met up in November 2022 at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles. Later in December, they were seen separately walking in and out of the same restaurant within minutes of each other.
An insider later shared that Harlow had taken the trip to New York City the day before to meet with his alleged crush after her performance at the Z100 Jingle Ball. Before that, another source had disclosed the "Levitating" hitmaker was very fond of the "SUVs" rapper, who is "very interested in her, and was going to pursue [the romance] strongly."
This would not be Lipa's first time getting romantically linked to a fellow celebrity, as The Blast observed that she and Trevor Noah were rumored to be dating some months ago. The rumors began after the "Daily Show" alum and the Grammy award-winner singer were spotted making out passionately after a date night in NYC.
