Rita Ora continues to tease fans with stories about her super-private wedding to Taika Waititi!
The caramel-toned beauty and her filmmaker hubby secretly tied the knot in a low-key ceremony sometime in 2022. Following the revelation of their nuptials, the songstress slowly satisfied the public's curiosity with little details about her love story.
After months of mystery, the "How We Do" hitmaker recently dived into the dynamic duo's romance, sharing new information about the lovebirds' journey down the aisle. Keep reading to learn more about the elusive couple.
Rita Ora Reveals Her Wedding To Taika Waititi Did Not Follow The Conventional Route
In a recent heart-to-heart discussion with "Glamour UK" for the magazine's cover story, the "Soul Survivor" singer got candid about her relationship with the Hollywood icon. The chart-topper, who refused to reveal the couple's wedding date, confessed the pair did not have a formal proposal.
"Well, honestly, there was no real getting down on one knee. It was more like, 'I want to marry you. Let’s just do it,'" the entertainer explained, noting that she favored the lovebirds' decision to skip the engagement phase.
Despite being known for serenading thousands at her concerts, the Bambi Award winner admitted she disliked having an extravagant wedding ceremony. Sharing her thoughts on the matter, the 32-year-old stated:
"Some women like to feel that real special attention that day. And everyone’s different. And for me – I think with my job, it is all… it’s very attention driven – I wanted to keep it private because my life and my career aren’t."
Because the English songwriter wanted a low-key ceremony, her preparations for the wedding were tied to two crucial factors — her career and Waititi's two daughters from a previous marriage.
Opening up about their importance to the ceremony, the entertainer said: "The wedding was planned in two to three days, when I was out of cycle, which is what I call it when I’m not in album cycle mode. And his kids were there, and I really wanted them to be a part of it."
The MOBO Award recipient continued, "It was either then or we had to wait for ages. I didn’t want to do it without my stepkids there. So, we just figured it out, and we did it. And it was perfect."
Still raving about her "dream" wedding, the "Body on Me" artist explained that her sister made it to the ceremony while her parents gave their blessings via Zoom. Meanwhile, the groom's guest list only included his two daughters, which Ora claimed was "amazing" for the filmmaker.
All About The Teen Choice Award Nominee's Wedding Dress & Second Ceremony Plans
For her big day, the 32-year-old rocked a stunning wedding dress from one of her favorite designers, Tom Ford. The songstress revealed that she always dreamt of involving the famous stylist in her ceremony after falling in love with one of his earlier outfits.
According to Ora, she had never forgotten the white lace dress and full-length veil ensemble she saw at Ford's 2018 fashion show. As fate would have it, the same attire was present when she shopped for her wedding dress.
"I went to Tom Ford’s shop to see if they had any wedding dresses. And they had this one wedding dress. So bizarre. I’m not even joking; it was on my mood board. Not that I’m crazy," the entertainer exclaimed. "But it was the one dress I wanted, and it was there, ready. And it fitted. It was meant to be."
Aside from the luxury brand founder, the "You Only Love Me" singer confessed that none of her friends knew about her wedding to Waititi. The 32-year-old told her pals after the ceremony. However, no one seemed shocked about her decision.
"No one knew. No one was surprised. They were like, 'I’m so happy for you. And when can we just throw a big rager?'" the caramel-toned beauty explained. Regarding the possibility of a second wedding ceremony, the Glamour Award honoree had no specific plans.
"Maybe sometime this year. We haven’t even thought about it," the chart-topper confessed. "But by the time we throw it, it’ll be old news. My friends won’t care anymore."
This isn't the first time the "Fifty Shades of Grey" star has shared important details about her nuptials and love story. Earlier in February, the sensational songstress flaunted the wedding ring she was given by Waititi on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
Raving about the large emerald stone jewelry, Ora confessed: "I just wanted it to feel really right, and so I may have taken him to the shop, and I may have pointed out exactly what ring I wanted."
