Salma Hayek rocked a red Gucci creation for the 2023 Met Gala. It featured a patent bodice that flowed out into a layered tulle skirt with a slit, and the 56-year-old beauty wore red lace stockings underneath to complete the dressy look.
Hayek’s dress, stunning as it looked, also attracted some questions from her fans, more because of Karl Lagerfeld than anything. One Instagram user wondered, “This is what Karl said: he told the German magazine Focus in a 2009 interview that “no one wants to see curvy women,” YOU ARE [A] CURVY BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, so what kind of msg are you sending with all this.”

For a woman this beautiful, Hayek is certainly not afraid to poke fun at herself. She posted many pictures on Instagram, cozying up to Penélope Cruz. Hayek showed the stages of her getting ready with under-eye masks, a sheet mask, and getting a massage. Cruz is chatting with her, looking svelte in jeans and a printed off-shoulder blouse.
Hayek wrote a tongue-in-cheek caption for the pictures, “Morning of the MetGala: Some work hard, and go through many steps to get red carpet ready… some people just wake up gorgeous”. She followed it up with a woman tipping hand emoji, like a sassy gesture, before re-writing the caption in Spanish.
She also tagged Penélope Cruz in the post, pointing out how she needed to work hard to prepare for the Met Gala, but Cruz was born with it!
Meanwhile, they were happy since fans saw some of the curves while Hayek lay on the massage table, covered in towels!
