Salma Hayek Drops Jaws In Her Strapless Red Met Gala Dress

Actress Salma Hayek is bringing the "House of Gucci" to the 2023 Met Gala!

The Mexican-American actress, 56, showed up in style at the 2023 Met Gala event wearing a red strapless gown. She also met up with her “House of Gucci” costar, Jared Leto, who might have been wearing Gucci… underneath his giant cat costume!

On Monday night, the “Frida” star posted only one photo of her outfit from her room in New York City. She is standing in front of the window with her hair slicked back out of her face. She is wearing a red strapless dress that perfectly compliments her figure.

Four rows of white pearls adorn her arms on either side of her body. The skirt of the dress looks to be held up with a red dash that is tied at her waist. Small sparkles adorn the gown, which flows in layers onto the floor behind her.

In the caption, she wrote, “For you Karl” alongside a black heart emoji and repeated her message in Spanish: “Para ti Karl.” She credited Gucci for the outfit and several other individuals for her make-up, hair, nails, styling, beauty treatment… and even her massage therapist!

Fans and famous friends couldn’t help but gush over her “amazing” dress! Although some fans thought she was referring to Karl Marx in the caption, others clarified that she was talking about German fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away on February 19, 2019, from pancreatic cancer.

He is not the only one. “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer in November 2020 and late talk show host Jerry Springer passed away just last week after a short struggle with pancreatic cancer. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) Purple Stride Event to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research actually took place this past weekend.

Still, most fans wanted to gush over her striking red dress. “Simply elegant… and smoking hot,” one fan commented. “Lady in red,” another follower chimed in. “Can you be any more beautiful?” a third fan asked. “OMG YOU LOOK AMAZING,” another follower exclaimed. “The fact that she’s 56 is insane!” another fan added.

The “From Dusk Till Dawn” actress met up with several famous friends at the 2023 Met Gala, including her “House of Gucci” costar, Jared Leto. The film also starred “Born This Way” singer Lady Gaga, “Star Wars” alum Adam Driver, and “The Godfather” star Al Pacino.

The Ridley Scott-directed movie came out on November 24, 2021, to mixed reviews. The film earned an Oscar nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, while Lady Gaga and Jared Leto received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award, the Critics’ Choice Award, and several others.

Although most people would expect cat-lover Taylor Swift to show up to the 2023 Met Gala inside a fuzzy cat costume, it was actually “Dallas Buyers Club” actor Jared Leto underneath the fuzzy white costume, which most certainly turned heads!

It seems that this might have been the first time that Salma Hayek and Jared Leto were spotted together since they wrapped filming of "House of Gucci" in Italy approximately two years ago, as they were spotted in several photographs together. Although critics detested most of the accents in the film, especially Jared Leto's he defended his accent in an interview shortly after the film was released.

In an interview with The Wrap shortly after "House of Gucci" hit theaters, the "Moribus" star explains that he approached his accent by looking at it as "just a series of mistakes."

“An accent is just a series of mistakes. You learn how to say a word, and maybe you don’t say it ‘correctly,’ whatever that means, but it’s just a series of habits,” he said at the time. “It’s the way your mouth makes shapes. Everyone learns theirs differently.”
