Jennifer Lopez Talks Ben Affleck 'Stepping Up' As Father Figure To Her Kids

It has been nearly a year since Jennifer Lopez tied the knot with the love of her life, Ben Affleck, and she has had only terrific things to say about him, much to their supporters' delight.

The multi-talented star, who never shies away from complimenting her man whenever possible, is now opening up about him being an exemplary father figure to her twin kids which she will always appreciate.

While discussing her role in the new action film "The Mother," Lopez touched on living the best life with her husband and her teenage children Emme and Max, who turned 15 in February.

In an interview with Hoda Kotb on "Today," she was asked how her kids were doing, and she responded, "They're 15, and they are teenagers – they are giving it to me."

When later asked what the teenagers were doing, she exclaimed, "Everything," before elaborating on the quick rate they were developing compared to when she was their age.

"They're becoming adults," JLo shared. "They are challenging everything in life, they are looking at everything, and these kids have so much information, so much more than we had." She added, "So they are thinking and talking about things and life differently than I did when I was 15 or 16."

Kotb noted that young adults followed the rules in the past, prompting the "Selena" actress to remark that children nowadays do not do the same.    She explained, "[They are] challenging everything – which is great for our world. I think they will change the world, to be quite honest – oh, and make it so much better, so much better than what we did."

Diverting the conversation, Kotb admitted that she loved looking at pictures of Lopez's kids and Affleck while noting that there was a "certain way" the teenagers looked at the actor, indicating a connection.

The "Maid in Manhattan" star only had good words for her partner as she gushed that he had been the perfect father to her children despite having kids of his own 

"He's a wonderful father, and a father figure to them as well," she said. "You know, he has three beautiful children, and then there's us." 

JLo further stated, "He's fantastic, he really steps up to the challenge of what that is and what that means, and they love him, and they appreciate him, and so do I." Her kids are undoubtedly proud to have such a mother and stepfather, and when they turned 15, the "Anaconda" actress naturally celebrated them with a sentimental tribute on the gram.

As The Blast reported, she mashed up her cherishable moments with them as they grew up, with Taylor Swift's "Fifteen" set as the reel's soundtrack. Added to the compilation was a view of the celebrants, joined by Lopez and Affleck around a dinner table and another photo of the D.C. star holding Max during a car ride.

Taking to the caption, the proud mama proclaimed, "Happy birthday to my beautiful, brilliant coconuts. I am so proud of you both in every single way." 

After appreciating them for bringing her "so much joy and happiness to my heart and soul, " she expressed her forever affection to the twins," ending with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY #Twins."

The "Ain't Your Mama" songstress' revelation about her husband comes days after she attended the 2023 Met Gala and after-party without her husband, even though they were seen together in Beverly Hills the previous Saturday.

While speculations may have risen about his absence, it was confirmed that he could not appear for the New York ceremony because he had "work commitments he could not get out of" in L.A.

Even so, the 53-year-old actress, who looked gorgeous in her exquisite Ralph Lauren ensembles for the events, had her sister Lynda accompany her to the after-party.

Lynda detailed the outing on her Instagram feed, revealing her sibling's after-party outfit. JLo was seen in a classic blazer, a white blouse, and a black skirt featuring a thigh-high slit. As for the main event, she rocked a halter dress with a black top and light pink skirt, which she accessorized with opera gloves and stylish jewelry.
