Allison Holker Boss Opens Up About Husband, tWitch's Suicide: 'No One Had Any Inkling He Was Low'

In a new interview, Allison Holker talked about coping with the loss of her husband, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who died by suicide. The TV host shared a rare insight into their beautiful life together and how her late husband wanted to be everyone's "Superman."

To honor his memory, Holker revealed that she launched the Move with Kindness Foundation to support mental health initiatives and spread positivity. She shares that she focused on continuing his legacy and making their home a sanctuary for their three children.

In an interview with People magazine, Allison Holker Boss fondly reminisced about the simple yet priceless moments she shared with her late husband, Stephen "tWitch" Boss. During the emotional conversation, Holker recalled that one of their favorite post-work activities was cooking dinner together in the kitchen. "Stephen would hold my back every time I walked past him," she shared.

Then at mealtime, the family of five, including would engage in "random conversations" with "so much laughter."

"Our love was so real and so loud. We always told people our house was like a choreographed dance," the dancer and TV host added.

Opening up in her first interview since the tragic loss of her husband, who passed away at 40 by suicide on December 13, Holker shared that his death shocked and deeply affected her, stating, "No one had any inkling that he was low. He didn't want people to know." The mom of three also revealed that despite being his partner, she had no idea that Boss was struggling as he kept his pain to himself and wanted to be everyone's "Superman and protector."

It's been a difficult few months for the widow as she tries to understand the pain her husband must have been going through alone while still holding onto the "beautiful life" they built together. "It's been really hard because I can't understand what was happening in that moment [he died]," she shared.

Although still grappling with a complex range of emotions, Holker shared that she is motivated to continue her husband's legacy and honor the beautiful man he was. "Stephen brought so much joy to this world, and he deserves to be remembered as the beautiful man he was," she stated.

In memory of her late husband, Holker founded the Move with Kindness Foundation to raise awareness and funds for mental health initiatives. Through the foundation, she hopes to encourage people to reach out to others during difficult times and "Trust that people are still going to see you as that light even in your darkest moments."

In her interview, Holker revealed that she and her late husband had always sought to spread hope and positivity, but after his tragic death, she was left confused about her "new purpose" as "love and joy" has always been her family's purpose. She turned to her friend, Andy Grammer, for advice, who reassured her, saying, "It's still your purpose. It just looks a bit different now — and it's a little more depth-filled."

Since Boss' passing, Holker revealed that several men have reached out to her, sharing their struggles with mental health and how much they were holding in. In response to the heartfelt messages, she said, "I found that to be a lot to hold on to at first, but then I realized I want people to feel safe talking to me and to open up and understand that we have to support each other in these moments."

In her chat with People, Holker also opened up about her struggle with the overwhelming grief and responsibilities of being a mother after her husband's death. "You're trying to help yourself and help your children and friends and family, and it took a toll," she revealed. "Literally, getting up in the morning was getting harder and harder."

However, she found solace in cold-plunging at night, which is now a part of her daily practice. "Spiritually and mentally, it's really helped as well," she said.

Since losing the family's backbone, Holker shared that she and her kids have formed a new relationship that requires honest communication and vulnerability. "I'm trying to teach them — and myself — that if you're angry or sad, it doesn't mean you're a bad person," she says. "We're coping together, and that requires trust and being really vulnerable."

Together, they continue to find comfort in their home, which remains a shrine to Boss' memory. Holker shared that her late husband's belongings have not been touched, as they are a reminder of his immense love for his family. "He was such a family man, and there's so much of his love in this house," she said.
