The actress’ latest social media post has revealed her undying love for legendary film star, Meryl Streep, amid them wrapping up filming for the third season of “Only Murders in the Building.” News of the “Mamma Mia!” star joining the cast of the hit Hulu show was shared in a hilarious video in January.

As the “OMITB” cast and crew wrapped up shooting its next season, Gomez could not but sing the highest praises for Streep. The 30-year-old multihyphenate shared a singular image of her and the 73-year-old looking at each other lovingly as they smiled on Instagram.
The “Death Becomes Her” actress kept her blond tresses tamed with a big braid in the middle, donning what appeared to be a black jacket with shiny lapels and small matching earrings. Her counterpart opted for a shimmery, gold number with a black collar and tear-drop earrings. In the caption, the “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum began:
“Well we wrapped season 3 of @onlymurdershulu -I'm not sure I have enough words to explain just how beautiful this season has been.”
She noted that even though it “has been deliriously hilarious, challenging” for, it was also “an absolute dream.” Gomez concluded by promising, “I'll post more soon. But I'II I leave it with the woman I adore, look up to and love.”
Celebrities and fans were instantly besotted with the post, liking it over five million times in 16 hours. They also made it a point to drop their comments — totaling 16k+ at the time of this writing, with the “Growing Pains” actress exclaiming, “Omg cannot wait!!!!!”
“Amazing,” Kerry Washington chimed in, alongside two red heart emojis. Actress and Mario Lopez’s wife, Courtney excitedly commented, “THIS PHOTO FOREVER ❤️.” As for fans, one wrote, “You two ladies look very lovely and beautiful and I can't wait to see season 3,” and a second declared, “No need for words. The picture paints a thousand already ?????.”
Meanwhile, another fan’s claim that they could only “see two legends” was shared by others, with some going as far as playing around with the series name to create, “Only Legends In The Building.”
That term has become fans’ favorite since Gomez used a behind-the-scenes clip to inform the world of Streep’s inclusion in the Emmy-winning mystery series. At the time, The Blast observed that the video began with the “Hotel Transylvania” voice actress pointing the camera at her costars — Steve Martin and Martin Short — while noting that they were on set filming for “OMITB” season three.
She then focused on actress Andrea Martin, before she asked, “Could this honestly get any better?” To answer that question actor Paul Rudd, stated: “Well, I do think it could get a little bit better.”
Upon the brunette star’s wondering “why?,” Streep popped up from behind the couch, offering to help her new co-stars with menial tasks including getting coffee for Short. “ONLY LEGENDS IN THE BUILDING,” one viewer promptly yelled in the comment section of the TikTok clip, which has earned 1.9 million likes.

Even though fans expect her to have some real-life investigative skills thanks to her role as the crime-solving Mabel Mora, Gomez has since laid such speculations to rest. Per a September 2021 report from The Blast, the “Love You Like a Love Song” revealed that she learned of her lack of skills during a CrimeCon event she attended with her mother.
While there, the mother-daughter duo was tasked with solving a cold murder case alongside amateur sleuths and the authorities. Although the six-time Latin American Music Awards winner quickly realized that she was out of depth with the case, her beloved mother was equal to the task.
After reiterating that she was terrible at the mission, she quipped “don’t come to me” to fans if they had a case that needed solving. Despite that snag, Gomez enjoyed herself to the fullest and concluded that the event “was great.” The event’s organizers emphasized the superstar’s presence with a social media post that was captioned:
“We were honored to host @selenagomez and her mom @mandyteefey at CrowdSolve this weekend. They were perfect detectives who, along with hundreds of others, helped bring peace to the Sova family.”
