Sarah Ferguson Embraces 'Royal Rebel' Title After Being Excluded From Coronation

During her recent appearance on Good Morning Britain, the Duchess spoke about her new book based on her great-great aunt, "A Most Intriguing Lady." Ferguson — popularly called by her nickname Fergie, has been referred to as a "Royal Rebel," most likely due to her outspoken nature and penchant for getting into trouble with the higher-ups for her unconventional behavior.

Speaking candidly with hosts Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, she noted that in the past, she would have denied being a rebel and tried to run from the label, saying, "Shush, no, I'm not a rebel; I'm perfect."

She then declared that she was okay with it now that she was older and did not mind being "mischievous and cheeky." Garraway described the book by giving details on the main character, a redhead who is pushy, aggressive, and loves to shake things up.

The author called the genre "fantastically delicious" and excitedly described the book as a mix between the film "Peaky Blinders" and the famous book by Jane Eyre, "Pride and Prejudice."

She explained that she would take readers to the East End where the Forty Elephants — an all-women's gang from the 19th to 20th century, would get away with pickpocketing because no one believed women could be "naughty."

The 63-year-old, who still lives with her former spouse Prince Andrew and is on good terms with him, was still snubbed from attending his brother's coronation on May 6, per The Blast

In fact, during an interview, the bestselling author hinted that she had already suspected she might not be invited to the event.

Even though she might feel slightly stung from being the only family member left out, she noted, "I will be having a little tea room and coronation chicken sandwich and putting out the bunting."

However, her former spouse and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, received invitations to the momentous ceremony.

The Duchess of York might be known for her past controversies, among which she was once famously photographed having her toe sucked by a former lover. Despite her rocky history, it did not stop her from supporting her former husband, Prince Andrew, amidst the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

As reported by The Blast, the British author decided to stay by his side as he faced scrutiny over his connection to the convicted sex offender. During an interview with PEOPLE, Ferguson did not comment on the allegations but spoke highly of him, saying, "I believe that he's a kind, good man, and he's been a fabulous father to the girls."
