Melanie Martin Opens Up For The First Time Since Aaron Carter's Official Cause Of Death
Losing a loved one is never easy, and the model has had an especially tough time with it, being in the public eye and raising their son Prince alone. Since Carter's unfortunate demise, Martin was left to care for their 1-year-old while dealing with grief. Now it seems like she might have a chance to start healing for real now that the question of how the singer passed has been answered.
Taking to her Instagram story amid the news of the official autopsy, she posted a picture that featured a small cross placed in the grass possibly in front of the late actor's home as a form of tribute to him.
The symbol had his name on it, date of birth and death as well as his customized "Love" signature in the center. Clearly emotional, she wrote over the image, "My Love 💔," in honor of her child's late father.
According to the official report, Carter passed away from drowning in his bathtub while under the influence of an aerosol duster and the potent sedative Xanax. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office reported that the 34-year-old, was discovered unresponsive and submerged underwater in his bathtub by a housekeeper who had knocked on his door to offer him coffee.
The results of his toxicology tests showed the presence of "difluoroethane," a gas commonly found in aerosol dusters and compressed air cans. According to the report, the substance "can induce feelings of euphoria when inhaled. It is known to have cardiotoxic effects which can lead to cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac arrest."
In addition to the presence of difluoroethane in his system, the toxicology report also revealed the presence of Xanax, a commonly prescribed benzodiazepine. The report noted that this drug, "has depressant effects on the central nervous system which can cause drowsiness and sedation."
Metabolites from both antihistamine and quetiapine were also found in his body. 'Quetiapine' is typically used to treat depression and is classified as an antipsychotic medication.
On why he drowned, the report stated, "Based on the autopsy findings, investigative reports, and circumstances, as currently known, Mr. Carter became incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects of inhaling compressed gas and taking alprazolam."
It went on to note that the substances caused him to become submerged in the water, unable to breathe, which ultimately resulted in his death. Per the document, "the cause of death is drowning due to the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam. The manner of death is an accident."
