Coco Jones Battles Ari Lennox For Role In Disney's 'Princess And The Frog'

Coco Jones is almost there as Tiana in The Princess and the Frog live-action version. she has to beat out Ari Lennox though!

The actress hopes to shine as Princess Tiana in the not yet confirmed or even heard of The Prince and the Frog live-action film. She posted a video on IG of herself throwing down in the kitchen just like Tiana.

She is singing “Almost There” the hit track is originally sung by Anika Noni Rose who also voice Tiana in the Disney animated film released in 2009. Jones captioned the video, “Hey Tiana Girlll! ??? #princessandthefrog”.

She sang her heart out and made it look so effortless. She smiles at the camera as if they snuck on her singing. Jones wore a long, grey maxi dress with long sleeves, and her hair was worn down past her shoulders.

The 25-year-old was cooking up some eggs while she put her own twist on the popular tune. Unfortunately for Jones, she isn’t the first to try and sing her way into the role.

Lennox posted her audition a few days before Jones and was very serious about it. She set up her tripod and Shook the nerves out of her hands before she blessed the mic with her voice and a beautiful audition.

It looked like Lennox was taking it all very seriously. There was no glitz and glam no hair done, nails done, and all that, just a mic, an audition space, and a piano accompaniment. Lennox performed the entire song and tagged Disney in her post letting them know how serious she is about the role that no one had announced.

Lennox is currently on tour and obviously took time out of her busy schedule to make and post the tape.

Not that we are pitting the auditions against one another because, let's be clear, both of these women can SANG, and they served in their own respective styles. Now, the fans, are saying who did what better in the comments of both videos.

“Absolutely!!!! We’ve got a winner!” wrote one follower under Jones’ post. “Everyone else can delete their videos now. We have our winner ❤️,” shaded another Jones fan.

One follower couldn’t choose. “Between you and ari lennox, it needs to be one of y’all!!”

Over on Lennox’s post fans were convinced. “Where’s the petition!? You deserve this, we deserve this! ??,” encouraged one follower. “Ok TIANA Lennox,” encouraged another. “SOUND JUST LIKE HER !!!!” they said of the performance in the film.

The women haven’t commented on one another’s videos but it looks like either would be a dope choice for the role. Some are leaning towards Jones because she has already proven she can do both act and sing.

Not only does she have hits, but she also has a starring role on Bel-Air, playing the role of Hilary Banks.
