Drew Barrymore is honoring her friend and frequent onscreen co-star, Adam Sandler.

The pair have a long history together, having first starred in the romantic comedy "The Wedding Singer" in 1998. They collaborated on several successful films, including "50 First Dates" and "Blended."

Due to their great comedic timing and ability to connect with audiences on an emotional level, they swiftly became onscreen favorites. In a new post, she congratulated the actor after he received a very prestigious award for his decades-long career in comedy and his contributions to the entertainment industry.

The award, presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, recognizes individuals who have impacted American society through their work in comedy, much like the renowned 19th-century novelist and essayist Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain. 

To pay tribute to the star, the actress posted a carousel of the duo together at different times and places over the years, including in movie scenes and on red carpets. In the caption, she wrote, "A #SundayBuffet to honor @adamsandler who has changed me and the world with his comedy, and so much more." 

Fans of the pair commented on how great they were in movies together, like one person who pointed out their incredible chemistry on screen and thanked them "for being my favorite rom-com duo ?."

One person described them as "living legends," and their "whole childhood?" and another stated, "Name a more iconic duo— we'll wait." A third excitedly gushed about how they "need to do another movie together!!!!!!!!!!!!" While a fourth wrote, "My favorite movies are with you both in them. ❤️."

The 48-year-old was also present at the ceremony, where he was presented with the award alongside his other frequent leading lady, Jennifer Aniston. The Daily Mail reported that the ladies, who have both shared the screen with the "Mr. Deeds" actor on multiple occasions, were in attendance to celebrate his achievement in the field of comedy.

Donning a burly beard, the 56-year-old looked dapper in a black baggy suit and necktie as he accepted the prestigious win at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. 

Aniston and Sandler starred together in Dennis Dugan's 2011 romantic comedy "Just Go with It" and Kyle Newacheck's 2019 murder mystery "Murder Mystery." They reunited for the sequel, "Murder Mystery 2," which is set to premiere on Netflix on March 31, 2023.

For the occasion, the seven-time Emmy nominee donned a stunning black-lace ruffled Needle & Thread gown paired with Verdura jewelry which went perfectly well with her signature beachy brunette waves. Her natural beauty was enhanced by defining her brows, adding a hint of eyeliner and pink lip color to complete her elegant look.

The 54-year-old chose a classic and timeless black pantsuit and kept her hair in flaxen layers, which created a sleek and sophisticated look. She kept her makeup simple by highlighting her striking blue eyes, pink blush, and gloss to complement her evergreen complexion.

The longtime besties and co-stars reunited again on an episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show," which aired on Tuesday, December 6th. During the show, the pair discussed their two films, 1998's "The Wedding Singer" and 2003's "50 First Dates."

The Blast shared that the duo also revealed a cute behind-the-scenes secret that Barrymore explained she had implemented on the set of both films. During their conversation, she asked Sandler to pick just one movie that he felt represented him the most in case it were to be included in a time capsule.

The "Uncut Gems" star responded by describing the plot of one of their most popular movies, "The Wedding Singer." The father-of-two also mentioned that he was not allowed to sing "Grow Old With You" to her. He recalled when he said, "I wrote that song,' [and Barrymore said] 'I don't wanna hear it!"

The "Poison Ivy" star added, "That was my reaction on film for the first time. I did that with 'forgetful Lucy' too," referring to her character in "50 First Dates."
