Al Roker is going to be the new grandpa in town! 

The television personality had fans of the "Today Show" in a frenzy when he didn't appear for over a week, especially since he took a lot of time away towards the end of last year because of his life-threatening health risk of blood and lung clots.

However, there is no cause for alarm this time because Al's absence coincided with a big family celebration, as his oldest daughter, Courtney, is expecting her first child with her husband, Wesley Laga.

Al Roker's Daughter Courtney Reveals Pregnancy News On Social Media

On March 14, the weatherman's oldest daughter announced that she and her husband were about to welcome their first child together. She shared a video to her Instagram set to a remix of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" to communicate her pregnancy announcement. 

The clip transitions through scenes, showing the happy couple in different outfits, postures, and gestures. Finally, the post ends with a view of their sonogram. The black-and-white picture revealed the unborn baby's skull, nose, and mouth.

"A new adventure is about to begin," she captioned her post with a heart and baby bottle emoji. Solidifying the exciting news, the soon-to-be grandparents, Al and his wife, Deborah Roberts, serenaded the comments with love. 

He enthusiastically commented, "Here we go!!! So very very happy!!!!! You guys." Later he followed up with a comment, noting his preferred grandfather nickname. He wrote, "Going for Pop-Pop," while Deborah, who is Courtney's step-mom, penned, "This is so very exciting!!!" ??.”

Others joined in congratulating the expecting parents. One fan wrote, "❤️❤️❤️ So happy for you, Court!!! Enjoy this journey. Wishing you a safe and healthy pregnancy." Another wrote, "Love love love ❤️❤️❤️ I cannot wait to meet baby Laga!!!"

An excited fan quipped, "Congrats! That baby's gonna grow up on gorgeous gourmet food! ??." Today's anchor Alejandra Ramos noted, "So much joy at this news! Congratulations and all the love to both of you! (Also extremely excited to see Al enter his grandpa era! Abuelo Al is going to be everything!) ❤️❤️❤️."

Before this overwhelming love and support for Courtney's pregnancy news and the 68-year-old host's beautiful reaction, PEOPLE detailed the 35-year-old's career background, relationship with her father, and, more importantly, Al's response to her proposal.

Courtney is the eldest child of Al's three children, he shares her with ex-wife Alice Bell. The soon-to-be-mom currently works as a test kitchen manager and recipe developer for kitchen appliance brands "Chefman and CHEF iQ." In April 2020, she got engaged to her now-husband, and Al revealed the sweet way the groom asked for his blessing before proposing to Courtney.

"We went to a local restaurant in our neighborhood that we've enjoyed, The Simone, and our friend Tina Vaughn — who is the owner there — gave us a corner table for some privacy. And he asked for my permission there." He continued, "I told her fiancé, its a lot of work. But anything worthwhile is."

The Weather News Anchor Praises His Wife, Deborah Roberts, For His Recovery

The Blast recently shared how the veteran weatherman was grateful to his wife for saving his life. He stated how he believed he would not have made it through his recent health scare without her care and love. During an interview with Page Six, the journalist expressed his appreciation for the love and prayers he received during his tough time. 

After that, he credits his loving wife for significantly saving his life, saying he "wouldn't be alive without her." He applauded Roberts for shielding him from the gravity of his condition as she solely focused on his recovery. The TODAY co-host stated:

"I guess I know it now. I didn't know it at the time. Deborah was great at keeping all that away from me, so I thought I was doing OK, but that was great because I was able to focus on getting better."

Concluding the interview, he noted that he is now aware of the severity of the previous situation and would be forever grateful to his caring wife for being by his side.
