As the whole oscar slap drama continues to make headlines through Chris Rock's comedy special digs, Will Smith is choosing music over it all!
The American actor is still trying to live down the repercussions from the scene he caused during the 94th Academy Awards, where he slapped the "Everybody Hates Chris" star for commenting on his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Although he has taken steps to correct the misstep – issuing a public apology and resigning from the Academy, the comedian has remained unsatisfied. In fact, Rock expressed his hurt at the infamous incident during his recent stand-up show, where he addressed it at length. While the project made waves online, there has yet to be a direct reply from Smith, who is focusing on his music.
Will Smith Prioritizes Music While Chris Rock Roasts Him In Comedy Special
In a recent Instagram post, the producer channeled his musical roots and shared a video of himself spitting some bars alongside a talented bass player and a drummer. The "Men in Black" star rapped along to his song "Just the Two of Us," inspired by Bill Withers' and Grover Washington, Jr.'s love song of the same title.

After rapping his verse, he ended the video with a happy laugh, seemingly excited at the opportunity to flex his skills. He then wrote in the caption, "Wow!! @ellenplaysbass, this is FANTASTIC. You are the Sweetest! Tagging in @jacross @elewrockjazz... Put somethin' on it."
The video was widely well-received by his followers, who trooped to the comments to shower him with accolades. The young girl who played the bass led the others by expressing her appreciation to the iconic star writing, "❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU WILL 🌟."
An older fan took it upon themselves to remind everyone that the "Independence Day" star was not new at this by stating, "OK PEOPLE are you forgetting he a rapper with 4 Grammys this song is a classic KIDS."
As expected, some people also decided to address his ongoing drama with Rock and praise him for handling it well. Like this person who wrote, "You are such a classy and gracious Man, Mr. Smith. We all fall short, and God grants us, Mercy! You NEVER tear down others to make yourself feel validated ❤️❤️❤️👏👏."
A third person felt Smith was refusing to address things on purpose and stated, "Will, I love how you absolutely don't give a damn lmao." While another user just wanted to let him know that he deserved grace regardless of his actions and let the musician know that they loved him and his mistake did not define him.
The reason they addressed the previous drama despite it being over a year since it happened might be because of the new comedy special Chris Rock released recently. The show reportedly included some jokes at Smith's expense, and The Blast shared that he did not just make jokes about the slap, he also shaded Pinkett's infamous "entanglement."
The 58-year-old opened up to a live audience and expressed his unwillingness to be perceived as a victim and instead wanted to move on and concentrate on his work in comedy despite the pain he felt at the time.
The "In Living Color" actor used the infamous incident as inspiration, highlighting that even successful people could have moments of humiliation. He made it clear that he did not cry about things like that on talk shows, likening his response to boxer Manny Pacquiao.
He also called out Smith's selective outrage by suggesting that his anger should have been directed at his wife, who admitted to having an affair in 2020 on her Facebook series "Red Table Talk."
Will Smith Skips Chris Rock's Netflix Special After Being Targeted In Comedian's Jokes
The Netflix special, "Selective Outrage," featured some biting commentary about the father-of-three. It seemingly did not sit well with him as he reportedly skipped watching it.
Speaking to ET, a source said, "Will is embarrassed and hurt by what Chris said about him and his family in his Netflix special. He didn't watch it, but he had people tell him what Chris said," adding, "It's everywhere when you look online, and on social media, so Will and Jada have seen comments about it."
The insider stated that the actor feels his apology to him and getting banned from the Oscars should have been enough for him to let it go and move on. They noted that the rapper was also unhappy that the streaming platform allowed Rock to tell jokes that they believed were underhanded.
Meanwhile, the comedian is at peace now and ready to leave the drama since he has already addressed it significantly. The source said, "He said everything he wanted to say. It was funny, self-deprecating, and thought-provoking. Chris is ready to move on."
