Zach Shallcross is facing backlash after a controversial conversation went down last week on "The Bachelor" between him and one of the contestants, Greer Blitzer.
Now, the 26-year-old is speaking out regarding the controversy, admitting he could have handled things better.
Zach Shallcross Admits He Was Wrong
On last week's episode of the reality television show, the 26-year-old lead had to conduct his cocktail party virtually due to the fact that he tested positive for COVID-19.
During the Zoom cocktail party, Greer Blizter had the chance to speak to him, beginning their conversation by asking how Shallcross was feeling. She then tried to explain how she can relate to his situation as she confessed to contracting COVID-19 at the end of a sales quarter, resulting in her falling behind and missing out on things.
“I had COVID at the end of the quarter during year-end, so it messed with my career in sales,” Blitzer, who works as a medical sales rep, told Shallcross during their one-on-one time. “I know how you feel missing out on things.”
Shallcross did not hold back his feelings after hearing Blitzer say this, replying with “I think me missing out on finding a wife is slightly more important than your little sales problems.”
After watching the episode back, the 26-year-old "Bachelor" lead is admitting that he could have handled things better.
"Watching it back, I completely empathize with her," Shallcross told Variety. "I think she was really just trying to connect and relate with me when I had Covid, and really I was just already frustrated with everything kinda, you know, going on. You know, I definitely could have delivered my sentiment in a lot more of a respectful way, in a calmer way."
He continued to take full responsibility, explaining, "It was just one of those conversations that just was off. No excuse, I should have responded better, so I totally, totally, 100 percent get where she's coming from."
Greer Blitzer Slams Zach Shallcross On Social Media
During the episode, fans watched as Blizter tried to explain how she did not mean any harm by what she said after Shallcross "minimized" her feelings as she was only trying to relate and understand how he must be feeling right now.
The conversation did not end on a good note, and Blizter thought she would be sent home, however, Shallcross did give Blitzer a rose at the ceremony, keeping her around for at least one more week.
After the episode, Blitzer took to social media to address the conversation now that she has watched
The sales rep from Texas took to Instagram last week, seemingly throwing shade at Shallcross and how he handled that conversation. She posted a selfie, using the caption, “Women who care about their careers are hot.”
