Zach Shallcross made headlines last year after he had his heart broken on “The Bachelorette” after his fantasy suite with lead Rachel Recchia. Not long after Recchia’s season ended, the franchise announced that Shallcross would be the next “Bachelor.”

Thus far on Shallcross's season, it seems he is not taking any chances with drama, as he has sent home multiple girls already after some of the women came forward with accusations against them.

In the promo for next week, the "Bachelor" lead is seen in a gray suit while sitting in front of a laptop, seemingly talking to someone on Zoom before host Jesse Palmer walks in saying he has “really bad news,” which then leads to Shallcross saying "This week was robbed."

Fans were left with many questions after hearing Shallcross say those four words while seemingly crying and as he was in, what many suspected, isolation -- indicating that whatever Palmer and Shallcross were referring to was bad enough to perhaps put production on pause, or at the very least, remote.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

Of course, Bachelor Nation will find out what the reason is during the next episode of "The Bachelor," but for those who do not want to wait until Monday, spoilers have revealed why Shallcross is on Zoom and in tears -- he contracts COVID-19 while in London.

According to Reality Steve, “production had to be shut down for the rest of the time there” due to the lead of "The Bachelor" testing positive for COVID. Shallcross does reportedly continue on with the rose ceremony for the week and does so over Zoom, which is why he is wearing a gray suit in the promo.

Reality Steve's report did mention that Shallcross goes on a one-on-one date with Gabi prior to him testing positive, though it is unclear if Gabi also got sick or, if Shallcross gave her a rose, if she had to go into isolation as well.

Shallcross's reported COVID-19 contract would be the first time a lead of the franchise tested positive for the virus during filming. It is also the first time a lead would conduct a rose ceremony over Zoom.

Ahead of the premiere of his season, which aired on Monday, January 23, Shallcross spoke out, claiming his season will be the “most emotional season” yet.

“It might not be the most dramatic season, but it’s the most emotional season that they’ve ever had,” Shallcross told PEOPLE. “But that’s not to say that this season will not have some drama. There’s no shortage of drama.”

When asked how he felt he handled this season, the 26-year-old told PEOPLE “there was a few instances where I think everyone could have handled something better,” however, he feels he handled “everything the way that felt right.”

“I was following what was right for my heart and my gut,” he said.
