Iggy Azalea Gets Candid About Her 'Volatile Relationship' With Playboi Carti

Iggy Azalea is spilling the tea on her last relationship!

The Australian rapper, who welcomed a son with Playboi Carti in 2020, had a rocky relationship with her baby daddy, with rumors of infidelity, and eventually broke up in the same year. She has always been quite private about her personal life, including things that happened while they were together, but recently she revealed a bit about him in a candid interview.

While she has made a few statements, she never delved too deeply into the details of their co-parenting relationship or the reasons behind their breakup. Nonetheless, she has suggested multiple times that one of the reasons for the split was his treatment of her.

While speaking with Emily Ratajkowski on her podcast "High Low with EmRata," she explained her reason behind joining the subscription platform "OnlyFans," her cosmetic surgeries, career moves, motherhood amongst other things. When asked if she was dating, she said:

"No, not really. I dated a little bit last year, and it was fun," adding, "I've been single since early 2020. Right after I had my son, I left his father."

She further stated, "Something happened one day with my son's father and me, and it was just one of those moments where I didn't wake up thinking this would be what my day would be. But by the end of the day, I was on my way to Los Angeles, and I never went back, and that was the end of it." 

The "Fancy" hitmaker admitted they had a volatile relationship and knew it was not working out between them. Azalea recalled her parents' situation and wished she had seen less of it. She noted that was what made her decide to walk away, adding:

"I was like, I will never let my son see this because I don't want him to see someone talk to me this way, I don't want him to ever learn this, I don't want to expose him to this."

About a week ago, she shared even more shocking details via a tweet following reports of her ex's arrest. Apparently, the "Woke Up Like This" rapper was apprehended by the police for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend by choking her during a heated altercation in December last year. The "Black Widow" artist tweeted:

"Imagine having a pregnant girlfriend and pretending they don’t exist until it comes out you like to abuse them too - & rarely visiting your actual son unless is because you’re running from whatever problems ya got going on in Atlanta & the press with your serial abuse of woman."

The mother-of-one has spoken out against her ex-boyfriend over his recent claims of parenting their child and financial obligations. The former couple, who split in 2019 amid cheating rumors, welcomed a son, Onyx Kelly, in 2020. 

Last April, The Blast shared that the 32-year-old who has previously stated that she is raising her son alone responded to an interview, where Carti claimed that he has been taking care of his responsibilities as a father. 

The Shade Room posted her response in a screenshot where she wrote, "Take care of me? Lmaooooo, let's not get carried away now." When asked what being a father was like for him, he answered that being a parent comes with many responsibilities, as many people depend on him for support. The star went on to add:

"I pay a lot of bills. I take care of a lot of people. I take care of my mom. I take care of my family. I take care of my baby mom [and] I take care of my son." 

Shade Room posted more screenshots of her thoughts on his answers, where she revealed that they were not on good terms and denied claims of paying her bills. She also noted that he spoke to her badly and that his sweet words in the interview were "not reflective" of their real-life situation. 

Despite Carti's team trying to contact her after the interview, she clarified that she would have preferred to be left out of the feature altogether. She ended by writing, "let me log off. I'm a peaceful person, I promise."
