Rihanna's Dad Found Out About Her Pregnancy During Super Bowl Halftime Show

Ronald Fenty, the father to music and beauty icon Rihanna, recently shared that he was also surprised by her second pregnancy reveal. Ronald said he hasn't been so present with her son due to the distance but is excited to meet baby no. 2.

He spoke about being a grandfather to Rihanna's son, saying the baby resembles his parents. He also joked about revealing the boy's name and said that A$AP Rocky, Rihanna's boyfriend, is "respectable." Rihanna has had a tense relationship with her father for years, previously suing him for exploiting her name and fame.

The singer's pregnancy reveal during the halftime performance also shocked the dancers and others working close to Rihanna.

During a recent interview with TMZ, Ronald spoke about how surprised he was about Rihanna's pregnancy reveal at the recent Super Bowl halftime performance. Ronald divulged that he traveled from Barbados to watch the show live after being gifted tickets by Rihanna.

However, he also shared that when he noticed the bump on his daughter, he turned to his partner and said, "Oh my god! My baby girl looks pregnant!" The 69-year-old said he hasn't been active in Rihanna's son's life. He explained that distance and the busy schedules between him and his daughter were big factors.

Ronald previously shared with TMZ that he hoped Rihanna's first child would be a baby girl because he already has four grandsons from his other kids. At the time, he also revealed that Rihanna had previously told him she wanted to have only three children.

During another recent interview with Page Six, Ronald spoke about his experience as a grandfather to Rihanna's son. He shared that the "Umbrella" singer had already visited Barbados twice with Rocky and their son.

Ronald said. "She's loving it. She's a very overprotective mother. Everybody says [the baby] looks like me, but you know, babies change, faces change. He [resembles] a lot of Rihanna and Rocky together."

He also joked about how Rihanna would be pissed and "have his head" if he revealed her son's name to the world. The 69-year-old praised Rocky for being "respectable" and a "cool guy" and said the rapper is "taking to fatherhood very well." However, Ronald claimed not to know if Rocky and his daughter would ever get married.

Rihanna and her father have had a strained relationship for many years. During a 2009 appearance on "Good Morning America," the "Only Girl in the World" singer revealed that her dad was physically abusive to her mom. Rihanna also shared that Ronald had suffered from an alcohol and drug addiction problem for most of her childhood.

In 2019, news broke that the singer had filed a lawsuit against her father, officially accusing him of exploiting her name and their surname to push publicity for his entertainment company. However, by September 2021, Rihanna chose to move the case out of court and into a private settlement to avoid unnecessary controversy.

Ronald wasn't the only one close to Rihanna who was in the dark about her second pregnancy. Last week, one of the Super Bowl dancers shared she'd been entirely unaware of the "Diamond" singer's pregnancy, despite working with her closely during rehearsals.

The dancer, Luhnyae Campbell, made a TikTok about her experience. She said, per Insider, "I was low-key mad at everybody because I was like, 'this is just her postpartum body, why are you judging her?' But no, she's actually pregnant. I forgot that women can just do that back-to-back — we're so amazing, that's crazy."

Jahleel Weaver, Rihanna's personal stylist, also recently told Vogue he was unaware of the pregnancy until a few weeks before the Super Bowl. He said, "She finally told me when we were reviewing sketches, and I was like, 'Is this a joke?' She has no fear. It's really cool that she is always willing to do what looks cool and new."
