Valerie Bertinelli is embracing self-love this 2023!
The sensational actress first took the world by storm in the 70s while starring as Barbara Cooper Royer on the beloved sitcom "One Day at a Time." Since then, the entertainer has grown to become a celebrated actress and Food Network star.
With several accolades in her name, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one would think the Delaware native oozed confidence. However, the mother-of-one has experienced her fair share of heartaches, a past she no longer wishes to associate with.
Valerie Bertinelli Opens Up About Healing And Loving Herself At 62
When Bertinelli said her vows to her second husband, Tom Vitale, the "Murder of Innocence," star never imagined the sad outcome of their relationship. After being emotionally scarred by their marriage, the veteran actress embarked on a healing journey.
In a new Instagram update, the Golden Globe Award winner captured her positive mindset in a short clip. The video showed the Delaware native a black-and-white striped outfit with black-rimmed glasses. Her gorgeous brown hair featured messy waves, while her fingers were adorned in red nail polish.
The video began with the words "healing after living thru hell" flashing across the screen. Then the past emotions the "Iron Chef America" judge once experienced popped up while she lip-synced to the audio.
The TV personality passed over "fear, self-doubt, and shame" before beaming brightly at the words "truly loving myself for the first time at 62." To this message, Bertinelli noted she would smash and similarly caption the self-love post with the same statement.
Touched by her bravery to share the truth, fans applauded the "Valerie's Home Cooking" star in the comment section. Most praised the actress for her honesty, while others related to the entertainer's troubles.
"Eventually life's circumstances will force us to stop "shortchanging ourselves" and become who we're meant to be— confidently strong and peacefully powerful," one fan beautifully penned. Another admirer hailed the mother-of-one for being an "inspirational badass." The individual noted that as a fellow mother, she wished her children would grow up to be like Bertinelli.
"Strong. Confident. Able to fully accept and grow from the hardest times. So freaking honored to watch you on this journey," the commenter concluded their sweet message.

"Thank you for showing me that I'm not alone," a third fan wrote. "Finding my self-worth has been the hardest journey. But I know who I am and I am starting to love me. Just so you know, you are brave, beautiful, and worthy. Blessings to you."
Earlier this month, the Food Network star opened up about healing from the "emotional pain" stored in her body. In an Instagram Story video, the 62-year-old discussed using a strenuous exercise to relieve her woes.
According to the "Hot in Cleveland" actress, the workout provided her body with a helpful release. Additionally, she noted that she felt comfortable talking about her healing journey with fans because many could relate to her problems.
However, the culinary expert noted that a few people did not understand her troubles and believed she might not be over her ex-husband. "There's a few of you that don't understand and think, 'omg, get over it!'" The veteran actress said, "I'm over it, I'm over the narcissist, I'm long over the narcissist."
The SAG Award Nominee Dropped Down A Jean Size After Quitting Alcohol In January
Following her divorce, Bertinelli is all about slaying the new year with milestones. "The Seduction of Gina" star participated in the Dry January campaign, which challenged people to abstain from alcohol for a month.
It turned out that giving up liquor had an unexpected benefit, which the actress gushed about in a TikTok video. While taking a stroll, the TV personality revealed she had lost weight from undergoing the challenge.
"These jeans that I'm wearing were so tight a few months ago that I couldn’t comfortably button them," the mother-of-one said, referencing her trousers in the video. "Now, they're so loose it's time for me to go down a size."
The 62-year-old described her transformation as a nice side effect from the Dry January campaign, noting she was pleased by it. Several fans expressed similar sentiments in the comments, praising Bertinelli for her commitment to the alcohol-free challenge.
