Valerie Bertinelli Credits Dry January For Her Weight Loss
Bertinelli, whose primary focus in the new year has been on staying happy and living life to the fullest as a single woman, recently announced to fans the impact her participation in the Dry January campaign had on her.
Taking to her TikTok page, the “Hot In Cleveland” star revealed in a short clip while going on a walk the glaring effects she experienced after deciding to give up taking alcohol for a whole month!
Donning a dark blue top paired with a silver necklace and sunglasses, she said, “So, here’s a nice little side effect to Dry January. These jeans that I’m wearing were so tight a few months ago that I couldn’t comfortably button them. Now, they’re so loose it’s time for me to go down a size.”
Overjoyed about her new reality, she happily added, “Yeah, I like that side effect.” Simply captioning the post, she wrote, “Nice side effect 👖😛.” Pleased with her post, several of her fans trooped into her comment section to praise the actress for her hard work, while others shared their personal experiences.
A fan wrote, “I did. Sober October AND dry January AND way less sugar. Very little weight loss. So crazy! But I’m feeling healthier.” Impressed with the fan’s revelation, Bertinelli replied in return, writing, “Oooh, sober October. I like it. I may also do dry July 💃💃💃.”
A rather curious fan inquired, asking, “Just from no alcohol? Or sugar too? A battle but one we can win ☮️❤️.” Answering the inquisitive fan, the “Sydney” actress wrote, “I cut back a LOT on sugar.”
Another showed their appreciation to the famous chef for being an open book. They wrote, “thank you so much for sharing. You’ve helped so many. I’m so happy to see your real smile again! I feel like your grandma, I’ve watched you since you were just a child 🥰.”
“Good for you honey! 🥰 Big hugs, keep going girl!🤗❤️,” exclaimed another. A joyful supporter expressed their admiration, writing, “Love you!! Enjoy that side effect. Mornings are so much better when sober!🥰”
Bertinelli Experienced An Array Of Feelings During Alcohol Fast
Before accomplishing the milestone of completing her Dry January challenge, the 62-year-old had to be strong emotionally, psychologically, and physically.
As earlier covered by The Blast, Bertinelli took to her Instagram story to announce to fans her commendable success of avoiding alcohol all through January. Sharing a video about the ecstatic news, she said in the clip, “Day 30, I did it! I’m happy because I physically feel better. I’m getting better sleep.”
She further revealed how she dealt with the numerous emotions that overwhelmed her, she said, “Feelings are emotions, and instead of ignoring them and suppressing them, I need to figure out what these feelings are telling me.” She noted that instead of using alcohol to drown them as usual, she decided to feel them through.
Bertinelli disclosed how she learned to look past the harsh words that were spoken to her by others. She said, “I have been screamed at so many times and told how fat and lazy I am. I realize…that was someone just projecting on me whatever they needed to project on me, but my part in all of it was believing it.”
Noting that she was no longer a believer in those negative remarks, she, however, concluded that the traumatic experiences had left a permanent scar in her heart.
The Delaware Native Chose To Embrace Joy In Her Life
Notwithstanding the several painful ordeals the “Valerie’s Home Cooking” star has gone through, it seems Bertinelli has opted to pursue happiness and laughter.
