Cast Members Ride New TRON Coaster At Disney World Ahead Of Opening

A brand-new rollercoaster is coming soon to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and Disney Cast Members had the opportunity to ride the ride ahead of its grand opening.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is set to open in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom in April, but select Cast Members of the Parks got to experience the new coaster for the first time this weekend.

Disney Parks shared an exclusive POV from the TRON rollercoaster ride vehicle as Cast Members got the opportunity to ride the attraction ahead of its official opening to the public.

Orlando Theme Park Blog was able to join the Cast Member Preview, Tweeting a video from inside the queue area, writing, "Tron launch bay with coaster launch."

One Disney Cast Member shared photos from their experience, writing, "may have taken forever to open but i gotta say tron is AMAZING."

And Disney blogger Drew the Theme Park Dude shared photos from his view while riding another Disney ride, The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. "Cast Member Previews For Tron at Magic Kingdom Seen From The Peoplemover!," he said.

At this time, TRON Lightcycle / Run is only operating for Cast Member preview. The new attraction will open to Guests at Walt Disney World on April 4, 2023.

Guests are excited for when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens at Magic Kingdom as Disney Parks have stated that it will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world!

According to the Walt Disney World website, TRON Lightcycle / Run is described as:

Lean forward into the ultimate race of survival! Leave the real world behind and join Team Blue in an epic quest across the Grid—the dark, computerized world with no horizons from TRON. Here, there’s no limit to the excitement.

Climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs. Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.

If Guests want to ride the new TRON rollercoaster when it opens to the public, they must use the Virtual Queue system Disney has implemented. Disney has stated, "A virtual queue will be in place when TRON Lightcycle / Run opens on April 4, 2023. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed."

Guests also have the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lane to gain entry for this attraction once it opens.
