Teddi Mellencamp Shares New Melanoma Update: 'Final Three Skin Biopsies Are Benign'

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum Teddi Mellencamp has been sharing her melanoma journey on social media in the hopes of helping bring awareness to others. Her most recent update came just days after a scary turn in her journey, but brought good news that she shared on Instagram and during an episode of her podcast with Tamra Judge, "Two T's In A Pod."

While on a birthday trip to Cabo with Kyle Richards of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," Mellencamp received a text from her doctor with some news about her last round of biopsies done a few days prior.

"It says, just so you know, the final three skin biopsies are all benign. Nothing more needs to be done with them," she said. "And then I said yeah, yeah, yeah, when do I need to go back and he said I'll see you in three months." Mellencamp shared a screenshot of the text in her Instagram Stories.

Just four days earlier, Mellencamp shared that when she went in for her four to six week check-up, a few concerns were found. "I went in for my 4-6 week checkup and there were three new spots my doctors felt needed to be biopsied. I’m getting a lot of questions about the spots being white. I have had both white and brown melanomas; this is why I continue to share to get checked no matter what," the caption of a carousel of photos explaining the situation began.

Her caption continued to talk about another issue that she found. "Also, recently I felt a bump on my neck. My anxiety, of course, took over. I touched it at least 303 times. However, day of appointment, I assumed it was nothing. And then the ultrasound came back irregular. I had the option of a needle biopsy or getting it cut out completely; the doctor recommended the biopsy to start, however there’s a small chance it’ll come back inconclusive and we will then have to remove it."

The reality star concluded her caption by reminding people that awareness is key. "I’m trying my best to stay positive and will fill you in when I get the results. If this saves even one person from going through what I’m going through, it’s worth it ? #melanomaawareness."

After posting some photos on her Instagram Story of her trip in Cabo, Mellencamp got many messages of concern from people who think she shouldn't be exposing her skin to any more sun. During the podcast, she addressed those concerns.

"I'm wearing a coverup, a hat, sunglasses 24/7, I'm under an umbrella, I have zinc on my back," she explained to the listeners. Judge jumped in and added, "By the way, you can be in the sun. It's not like you can't ever be a sun, because you're not a friggen vampire now."
