Her previous pregnancy ended due to a partial placenta abruption, so Teigen's new child is a rainbow baby. The Cravings Cookbook author first announced in August 2020 that baby no.3 was on the way but suffered a pregnancy loss just a month later.

Teigen was hospitalized and received blood transfusions after bleeding throughout the later part of her pregnancy, per Page Six.

The former "Lip Sync Battle" co-host took to Instagram to disclose the heartbreaking news.

"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we've never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn't enough," she captioned the black-and-white image of herself crying in a hospital bed.

She added, "We never decide on our babies' names until the last possible moment after they're born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack."

"So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever," she noted.

"To our Jack – I'm so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications that we couldn't give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you."

After the loss of her previous pregnancy, the former "Snack Off" judge revealed she was undergoing IVF again.

"hiiii. I posted about it in my stories, but I wanted to let you guys know I'm balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggs as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos," she wrote in an Instagram post.

She went on to say she didn't mind the shots, adding that they make "me feel like a doctor/chemist" before requesting her fans to stop asking whether she was expecting.

"I humbly beg you to stop asking if I'm pregnant because, while I know it's said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!" she wrote.
