John Legend recently reminisced on earlier stages of his relationship with his gorgeous wife, Chrissy Teigen. They were, however, not remarkable recollections as he confessed that he wasn't the best partner to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model at the time.

Fortunately for the pair, they've shared over eight successful blissful years of marriage and managed to overcome the struggles of the beginning to fall more in love with one another.

The award-winning singer got very candid with his personal life during a recent chat.  Legend admitted during an episode of "On Purpose With Jay Shetty" podcast, that he wasn't fully devoted at the initial stages of his relationship with Teigen.

The couple began their whirlwind romance after they first met on the set of a music video in 2006. Although intending to take things slow, their intense passion for one another was so strong that they ended up tying the knot in 2013.

While walking down memory lane, he said, "I think I was more selfish then. I wasn't a great partner at the beginning of our relationship."

He further said, "Even though I was very into her and very excited to be with her. I was still selfish. I was in my mid-20s, still not ready to fully be the committed partner that I am now." However, the " Nervous" singer stated that as time flew by, it dawned on him that he needed to do better and fight for the relationship he so much cherished.

The record producer affirmed, "When you stop being so selfish when you think about not only the joy you get from a situation and the pleasure you get from it, but also think about your responsibility and your commitment in that situation, you just grow, and you mature."

He, however, assured that reaching that realization wasn't so difficult adding, "Part of it is it's just a matter of time. You need time to become that person you want to be." The 43-year-old seems to have matured in the relationship aspect, and it is evident, seeing how far he and his influencer wife has come thus far.

The " Minefields" singer incredibly concluded, "We've been through enough together where it's really fortified us and made us stronger. Those tests have made us grow together and realize things about each other that we didn't know."

The talented songwriter, although almost failing at love, luckily got his act together and has since then continually declared his love for the cookbook author and fulfilled his duties as a devoted husband.

Per The Blast Legend marked their 9th marriage anniversary with a song called "Wonder Woman" dedicated to the mother of his children. The pianist took to Instagram, where he posted a lovely clip of his recently released music video for "Wonder Woman," singing praises to the model. 

In the short video, the doting husband was shirtless as he mouthed the delightful lyrics to the song while his gorgeous wife, who usually appears in some of his music videos, swayed elegantly to the song.

Captioning the post, he professed his love for Teigen, writing, "I married my Wonder Woman 9 years ago today. Happy Anniversary, my love. You never cease to amaze me."

Legend isn't the only one that publicly flaunts his love for the woman of his dreams. Teigen, from time to time, dotes on her EGOT winner husband on social media.

Earlier this month, the successful model, while conversing with her followers on Instagram, unintentionally displayed a romantic interaction she had with her husband and revealed the naughty nickname she gave him.

The "Bring The Funny" judge, while taking to her Instagram story to advertise one of her products to her fans, got interrupted by her handsome boo. The "Made To Love" singer said, "I like that," referring to Teigen's advertising skills.

However, the pregnant TV personality, who was pleased to hear her husband's remark got naught and replied, "oh, thank you, daddy," before adding in a seductive voice, "I like you." 

The happy spouse, in reacting to his wife's adorable comment, playfully stuck his tongue out at her.
