Lala Kent has decided not to keep quiet anymore as designer brands are beginning to fall short of their customer's expectations following the recent scandal surrounding big names like Balenciaga and now Gucci!
Gucci's promotional photograph, instead of winning the hearts of many, has sparked outrage from the public as they were appalled by the indecent representation of children's accessories.
Although the controversy happened last month, Kent is rehashing the conversation and calling out Gucci and their brand ambassador, Harry Styles.
Lala Kent Fumes And Calls Out Gucci & Harry Styles For Their Controversial Campaign
The "Vanderpump Rules" star recently lashed out at the Italian high-end luxury fashion brand and criticized them and their ambassador for their "sick" ad featuring a child's bed and a teddy bear t-shirt.
Expressing her disgust via her Instagram Story, the mom of one posted an image of Styles modeling for the latest "Gucci" ad. The English singer appeared to be donning a white t-shirt that had an angry pink teddy bear on it and a pair of oversized pleated pants alongside a green plaid flannel coat.
The "As It Was" singer accessorized his outfit by wearing a pair of sunglasses as he posed next to a toddler-sized mattress.
Tackling the controversial post, Kent began by writing, "I'm gonna need to know what the f**k is going on here. Why is there a children's mattress in the photo? Explain yourselves."
Questioning the brand to justify the reason for their shoot, she added, "Bc [Sic] right now, y'all look like you need a mental evaluation, and it's hitting a little too close to home for me to STFU."
Focusing on the Redditch native, she wrote, "@harrystyles you're a clown. & I thought that before this sick ass campaign." Concluding her rant, she declared, "This world is dark… but you won't be getting to my child. Noooooope @gucci."
About The 'Ha Ha Ha' Ad Campaign And Fans Reactions To The Promotion
The unsavory campaign, which continues to receive worldwide backlash, was a project that started between Styles and the luxury brand after they announced their partnership in June for the menswear collection.
Per The Blast, the promotional post which featured the "Adore You" crooner wearing a white T-shirt with an angry-looking pink teddy bear design on it also had a lyric from Styles' 2019 track "Watermelon Sugar."
The lyric printed on the shirt read, "I want more berries and that summer feeling." The Kering-owned brand proceeded to add a caption to the campaign photos, writing, "A performance piece starring Harry Styles and the Gucci HA HA HA collection."
The brand's website gave a more detailed explanation about the collection, revealing that it was the product of Style's friendship with Alessandro Michele, a creative director.
The website read, "Play is at the very heart of the collection, which used menswear as a tool of the avant-garde. Captured by Mark Borthwick, the series of images sees Harry Styles showcase the 'dream wardrobe' defined by the eccentric use of romantic accents, whimsical prints, vintage details, and the expressive emotionality of the individual."
Fans were however not pleased with the photo ad and heavily criticized the post under the luxury brand's Instagram page comment section. A curious fan inquired, "Toddler mattress and grown man – What story are they selling"?
Another had a similar thought process, writing, "Is this an ad for kids' mattresses? If not…. Why is a kid's mattress included with a man in a fashion ad…… What are you trying to normalize."
A third declared, "Unless he is about to announce his expecting a baby, nothing else can justify the Mattress. Don't want to hear it"!!!!!!
Kent Also Addressed The Balenciaga Child Bondage Scandal
This isn't the first time the "10 Minutes Gone" star has spoken up against brands that seemingly incorporate children's themes in their campaigns that have nothing to do with kids.
As you might know, Balenciaga caused quite a stir last year after promoting a sensitive children's advert that was likened to child pornography. Calling out the high-end luxury fashion brand, the Utah native shared screenshots of the horrific advert on her Instagram Story.
Addressing the appalling photo, Kent wrote, "I'm sure I'll be shadow banned… again, for posting this – but I have to. I'm proud to not own one single piece of Balenciaga." She further chastised the brand for its inappropriate ad and advised the public to do better.
"Y’all – we need to do better. Reject the darkness, find the light. The well-being of our world and its innocent beings depends on it, the 32-year-old urged
It appears the parent company Kering, who co-owns the luxury brands Balenciaga and Gucci, is going to be spending a lot of its time clearing up its soiled name and gaining back its customers' trust in 2023.
