MacKenzie Scott is on the single women's market again after officially separating from her second husband, Dan Jewett.
The couple reportedly met at a school and married in March 2021, approximately two years after Scott's divorce from Amazon founder billionaire Jeff Bezos.
Since her first divorce, the philanthropist has become one of the wealthiest women in the world. According to Bloomberg Billionaire's Index, she sits at No. 72 with an estimated net worth of $20.6 billion. Scott and Bezos, her first husband, were married for about twenty-six years before they called it quits.
As a result of that divorce, she walked away from the marriage with nearly $37 billion, pledging half to charity.
MacKenzie Scott Officially Divorced From Seattle Teacher Dan Jewett
Per reports, the curtains are closed on the former Mrs. Bezos's second marriage as a judge signed off on the duo to go their separate ways in Washington state.
TMZ reports that Scott and Jewett signed a separation contract, which takes care of the division of property and debts, and accordingly, spousal support was not requested by her now ex-husband. The divorce was an immediate conclusion, and after four months of back-and-forth between the pair, the divorce proceedings were concluded.
Jewett was a chemistry teacher at a Washington private school where Scott's children attend. They share no children. The romance between the billionaire and her teacher beau came crashing when the 52-year-old filed for divorce in September of the previous year.
An earlier report by The Blast detailed how Scott said goodbye to her second husband. The mother-of-four filed the petition of separation at the King County Superior Court in Washington State.
Also, she requested that their property division be laid out in a separate contract, which the former Seattle teacher agreed to and didn't contest the divorce, meaning their divorce headed in the right direction.
As you might recall, the renowned novelist and Jewett became husband and wife in March 2021 and shared the news of their union via a joint Giving Pledge letter — which has since been deleted — published on Scott’s Medium account.
Jewett wrote, "I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know — and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others." He followed through with another sentence of adoration for his marriage with Scott. He wrote, "I look forward to the growth and learning I have ahead as a part of this undertaking with MacKenzie."
As reported, the couple showed subtle signs of relationship struggles when Jewett was suddenly left out of the recent charity donation.
It was noteworthy because, in the past, they both partnered to give billions of dollars to worthy causes. They even pledged two properties worth $55 million to the California Community Foundation as part of their affordable housing project.
Also, the absence of Jewett's pledge on the Giving Pledge website raised eyebrows. His pledge version and a picture of him and Scott were always on the website. However, only the billionaire ex-wife's image and the statement remained on the webpage.
At the time of the couple's marriage, a source close to Jewett said of his relationship with Scott, "He's the perfect person to end up with this money to give away — no sense of greed at all."
Bezos GF, Lauren Sanchez, Loves The Idea Of An All-Female Space Crew
Though Scott may have had her second failed attempt at romance, the notorious entrepreneur is still going strong with his news anchor belle, Lauren Sanchez, who also takes to the idea of going to space one day.
In November, The Blast reported on how the media personality is walking down her boyfriend's path but with a little twist. In an interview featuring Bezos, the former entertainment reporter spoke about going to space in 2023 but with an all-female crew.
She declared, "It'll be a great group of females," before clarifying that her boyfriend won’t be joining her to blast into space.Sanchez also opened up about her skills and training as a pilot and how she intended to use them to make history.
Sanchez is trained pilot and the founder of Black Ops Aviation, the first female-owned and operated aerial film and production company.
