Hailey Bieber Struggled With PTSD
On an episode of the Run-Through with Vogue podcast, Hailey noted that she got very scared after her diagnosis with the mini-stroke, as she thought it would happen again. She also suffered some PTSD after the experience that “terrified” her.
She explained per Page Six, “I struggled with a lot of anxiety after. I struggled with a little bit of PTSD of just, like, the fear of maybe it was gonna happen again.” Hailey recalled how frightening the ordeal was, saying, “It was so terrifying, so jarring …in every single way that you could imagine.”
The 26-year-old also added that the stroke was the “scariest thing she’d ever gone through,” and things got even worse when she discovered a hole in her heart.
She Discovered A Hole In Her Heart
Rhode Beauty CEO’s anxiety levels got even higher when the hospital found a hole in her heart. She recalled suffering the initial health issue in Palm Springs in March before being diagnosed later with the heart condition.
The following month, she went in for a patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure surgery which turned out successful. While she now feels better, the star revealed that it was difficult to go back to Palm Springs for some time, as it would always make her remember “exactly how everything happened in that moment.”
While she was more scared than she’d ever been, Hailey was grateful that she discovered the hole before it caused any serious health problems. Hailey said, “I think the bright side for me is that it led me to find out I had this hole in my heart.” The star also got back on her feet and felt better than ever.
Hailey Bieber Is Grateful To Feel Better
The ex “Drop the Mic” host was grateful to be alive after dealing with one of the most traumatic experiences in her life. She also had much less anxiety and PTSD than she did before, as she stopped overthinking about her health.
The star also counted herself lucky after realizing that her condition could’ve gotten much worse than it did. Recalling all that happened, she said, “I look back at it and it could’ve been so much worse. So many worse things could have happened in that moment.”
Hailey, who initially had no idea what caused the mini-stroke, later revealed that it was related to a blood clot coming in contact with her brain.
Hailey Bieber Revealed What Caused The Stroke
The vlogger released a YouTube video detailing her traumatic experience to the public, and how the stroke happened. She explained that the doctors discovered that a blot clot had found its way to her brain and initiated an attack on her. While they were sure that the clot caused the stroke, they had no idea how it got there.
However, Hailey, who was overwhelmed with things at the time, felt relieved that she didn’t have to worry about it anymore. She said, “I’m really relieved I will be able to just move on from this really scary situation and live my life.” The star also confirmed in her video that she was in a better place and recovering speedily. “It went very smoothly … I’m recovering really well, really fast.”
The model wasn’t the only one grateful for her recovery. Her husband, Justin, also spoke about it during a Denver concert, per Page Six. “Most of you probably know or have seen the news about my wife … but she’s OK, she’s good, she’s strong.”
