Billy Idol To Be Awarded With The First Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Of 2023

The British-American singer-songwriter William Michael Broad, best known by his stage name Billy Idol, is scheduled to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, making him the first person to do so this year, 2023.

The event, which was initially set for January 5th to honor the punk rock star, had to be rescheduled to the next day due to unstable weather conditions.

Idol first achieved fame in the 70s as the lead singer of London's punk-rock group Generation X with former bandmate and bassist Tony James. He went on to find success on his own releasing hit songs like "Dancing with Myself" and "Eyes Without A Face."

The 2,743rd Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star will be dedicated to the punk-rock icon in an upcoming ceremony.

According to the official Walk Of Fame website, Idol will be awarded his star in the recording category. "There will be lots of rebels yelling for their favorite rock star Billy Idol when he receives his well-deserved Walk of Fame star on January 5th," Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame producer, wrote ahead of the ceremony.

She then went on to add, "Since the beginning of his career Billy Idol has held the hearts of many of his fans who finally will be able to visit his star and witness his induction into the Walk of Fame."

The "Dancing With Myself" singer was initially scheduled to receive the honor on Thursday, January 5th but will now have to wait till the following day to do so.

Idol, 67, took to social media to make the report of the rescheduled date by citing weather conditions as the reason for it. He posted a picture of the Hollywood Walk of Fame bill with himself starring in it. "Update the ceremony has been rescheduled to Friday, Jan 6th due to rain," he captioned the photo.

Idol went on to invite his fans to join him at the event as he gets awarded the legendary honor.

"The location is 6212 Hollywood Blvd, right by Amoeba Music," he revealed, adding that if fans couldn't make it on that day, they could watch the ceremony live at walkoffame.com.

The punk rock icon seems to be in haste to receive the award as he recently made a surprise visit to the location and was pictured with the incomplete star sign on the famous Hollywood Boulevard.

Idol posted a picture of himself surrounded by fans and admirers standing close to the star sign, which was still under construction. He captioned the photo as "a star in the making."

His name could be seen already highlighted in the image with the star sign fitted to the ground. He was rocking black pants with dark boots and stripe inner on a black leather jacket as he posed in front of amoeba music where the star is located.

In the Instagram post, he highlighted the new date for the event, saying, "The @hwdwalkoffame Star Ceremony has been moved to this Friday, January 6th at 11:30 am due to rain! Outside @amoebahollywood. See you then."

Idol's fanbase, popularly called rebels, took to social media to voice their thoughts, with some in disbelief that he doesn't already have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.

A fan said, "Congratulations Mr. Billy Idol! You have been making great music before I was born and I've been listening to some great ones! Rock on!"

Another fan was in disbelief that Idol never had the star sign before now and wrote, "I can't believe you don't already have this," with another saying, "should have had this years and years ago."

"About time you got one for everything you've done and all of the amazing music you've made," an excited fan added.
