Billy McFarland thinks his Fyre Festival scam may have made him more appealingto business execs, making it a little bit easier to start up his new business.
Billy McFarland Finds People Nicer Now
The disgraced entrepreneur is apparently realizing that being known as a scam artist has been good for him in the long run. A source shared with PageSix that Billy is shocked to find out that so many people are willing to work with him.
Since leaving prison in March, the businessman has allegedly been able to get more meetings than before the Fyre Fest scandal. The 31-year-old has been telling friends “that people have been very kind to him on the streets, asking for photos with him — much to his surprise.”
He also made it clear that it’s shocking “how easy it is for him to get business meetings.”
Billy McFarland Has Skills
Part of McFarland's allure is apparently his hard skills! The guy is a great marketer there is no questioning that and big business people are seeing this. The source claims, “it seems as though many people want to meet with McFarland for his marketing skills.”
Currently, McFarland is living in Brooklyn in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area but the source revealed that he is hoping to get back to Manhattan as soon as his new Startup becomes successful. Billy’s alleged new life doesn’t involve him partying as hard as he did back in the Fyre Festival days.
In fact, he apparently sticks to just a handful of upscale bars like Bounce. While there recently, he was allegedly telling guests that this was only his second time out since exiting prison.
Fyre Fest, Fyre Fraud
McFarland is still trying to fly under the radar after screwing over a whole lot of investors out of $26 million for the Caribbean Island-based music festival. He also sold well over $100,000 in fraudulent ticket sales that he ran AFTER his arrest.
McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison he served four of those years. Since getting out, McFarland has been teasing a Bahama-based “pyrtbilly” project where he is sending people on scavenger hunts around a city looking for a message in a bottle.
He followed up the first video with one that looked like a couple had found the first bottle and Billy had flown them out to the island on a luxury vacation. However, soon after, the island issued a warrant for Billy and announced that they had nothing to do with his current project.
In fact, Billy hasn’t spoken to any officials in the Bahamas about his new venture and they want no part of it.
