Howie The Crab Is Back To Normal After Tough Molt; 'A Christmas Miracle'

Howie the crab is back to normal, and just in time to celebrate the holidays!

The TikTok famous crab who fasted for an entire month to prepare for a difficult molt, is now eating and high fiving again to the delight of her mom and all her social media followers.

Howie's mom, who has kept the rainbow crab's fans updated throughout the entire molting process, recently posted an exciting update on both Instagram and TikTok. "A Christmas miracle! Howie is back to her old self!," the caption to the TikTok video caption reads. "She let me put a Santa hat on her and she started eating her peanut butter sandwich! The molt process is over and we're back in business! Merry Christmas everyone!!!"

In what could possibly be one of the cutest videos, Howie is wearing a Santa hat and holding onto her peanut butter sandwich while surrounded by Christmas gifts. In just a few short hours, the video has received more than 80K views and almost 20K likes. In the video, viewers get to see Howie do something she hasn't done in a while because of the tough molt - high five her mom.

Tons of loyal fans were pulling for the sweet crab during the molting process. Howie's mom expressed some fears that she might not be able to properly molt due to her older age, and viewers were totally invested in seeing the crab through the process and to better days. "I’m over joyed that Howie is doing well. She looks beautiful in her Santa hat too," one fan wrote. Another added, "I SCREECHED!! LOVE YOU HOWIE!!!!" One other fan wrote, "The present we all really wanted!!! ? (Or at least I did… ?)"

Howie's mom also shared the good news on her Instagram page with a carousel of photos of a much happier Howie than fans have seen in a while. "I can die happy ? Howie is back to normal! Check out the new video on TikTok. Merry Christmas everyone!" the caption reads.

Just yesterday, Howie's mom shared a video on TikTok that shows the little crab holding a peanut butter sandwich after weeks of not eating. The video also shows Howie not really feeling wearing a hat just yet. "I left a PB sandwich in her tank and she found it and was holding it. Her appetite isn't quite back yet but she's still digesting her molt. I tried putting her hat on and that was a big nope," the post was captioned.

When one follower asked when Howie is expected to eat her first normal meal since her molt, Howie's mom replied, "She's been nibbling on food but it takes a bit to digest. Tomorrow or the next day she should be ready for a regular meal."
