Barbara "Babs" Costello, otherwise known to the Internet as "Everyone's Grandmother" has some great seasonal tips and tricks to share to help make the holiday season a little less stressful. From baking tips to entertaining tips, she's got an arsenal of great ideas to share with her followers on TikTok and Instagram.
Babs Shares Tips And Tricks For The Holiday Season
Babs wants to help with all the Christmas card craziness. She's got tips for sending, receiving, and displaying holiday cards. "First, to receive cards, you gotta send them. If you don't send a card for three years, people cross you off their list," she said. "Now I know people use social media to stay in touch, but there's nothing like going out to the mailbox and getting those holiday cards."
She then explains what you should do as soon as you get a card in your mailbox. "As soon as you get the card, check the address, make sure it's correct in your address book," she explained. "Bonus! I like to do this with my close friends and family. Get an updated picture for their contact photo."
For many people, holiday cards just get left on the counter or lost in a pile somewhere. But not for Babs. She continued her tips by sharing the "Babs Way" for displaying all the cards you get. "Just hang some garland around a doorway, take the card with a clothespin and up she goes," she said. "Beautiful way to display all those gorgeous cards."
She also said that garland can be pricey, but don't worry, she has a hack for that. "Picked up some white pine for $9.99 at my grocery store. You wanna fill them with an assortment of greens. You'd be surprised what you can gather in your yard," she said. "Take a bundle of those extra greens, wrap the bunch with your green florist wire. Put it on a bare spot hole. Then once a day, just spray them with some water."
Babs Has Cocktail Party Tips For the Holiday Season
Babs shared three easy tips for hosting a cocktail party. "Tip number one, set up a self-serve beverage bar away from the kitchen. I like to include a signature drink, and also leave a recipe right on the bar so people know what they're drinking," she said. "Number two, always serve a signature drink."
"Everyone's Grandmother" then shared a recipe for Christmas margaritas she calls, "Jingle Balls." After giving the recipe for the tasty festive drink, she also shows how she presents the drink in an ornament. For tip number three, she says, "Make it easy on yourself" and then plugs Adobe Express and party templates.
Babs Has A Hack For Baking Christmas Cookies
"Did your mom ever tell you when baking Christmas cookies, don't use your counter space? Use your ironing board instead," she starts her video off. "Just remove the cover, wipe it down, now you have an instant cooling rack for all your Christmas cookies." Babs then shares a recipe and demonstrates how to make her molasses spice cookies.
