"First 24 hours, no decorating," she starts off. "Let those branches have time to open the Babs' Way for lights." Speaking of lights, Babs said a rule of thumb is to have 100 lights for every vertical foot of tree. "Babs' Way, I use 200. Go big or go home," she explains enthusiastically. "Here's the Babs' Way to make those lights really sparkle. Just don't drape your lights at the end of the branches, round and round. Do it the 'Babs' Way.'"

She continued by explaining her way is to divide the tree into quadrants, starting at the bottom, and use her twist and shove method. "Not twist and shout," she said jokingly. "Twist and then shove the lights in the middle and then come back out and twist again, and then shove the lights back. And you're gonna create depth and beauty and magic. Twist and shove all the way up your quadrant and then start a new section."

After the lights are all hung, Babs suggests standing back from the tree and squinting.  "And if you notice any dark spots, that's where you need more lights," she said.

Now that the lights are all on the tree, it's time for ornaments. Babs shares her tips on how many ornaments you should have based on the tree's size and where they should be placed. "Count on 15-20 ornaments per foot of tree. Hang matching ornaments first. This will allow you to space them to create balance," she said. "Put sentimental ornaments or any ones that are breakable near the top. Put any heavy ornaments towards the trunk." She also added that if you have ornaments you don't like, put those in the back where no one can see them.

Now it's time for garland, and in typical Babs fashion, she's got tips to help! "You need about nine feet of garland for every foot of tree," she said. "And use ornament hooks to keep the garland in place." She also shared an old school tip from a Christmas tree farm worker for keeping your tree alive, "For the first water, make sure it's boiling hot and add some Sprite."
