Chelsea Handler thought she was being clever when she called out her “white privilege” in a bikini shot on a yacht but fans weren’t impressed. The 45-year-old comedian took to her social media on Friday with a throwback showing her on the luxury boat while floating in the gorgeous sea somewhere overseas. Showing off her rocking bikini body in a purple two-piece, Chelsea Handler held onto a rope for balance in one hand and her champagne glass in the other.
Looking at the camera without giving any emotion, the “Life Will Be the Death of Me: . . . and You Too!” author wore her blonde hair slick back while barely covering her curves in the itty bitty colorful bikini. Flashing her flat abs and long limbs while sporting a pair of sky-high heels, the star poked fun at her boat look and lavish lifestyle.
“I was trying to figure out why women wear heels while wearing a bathing suit,” she captioned the controversial shot.

It’s not the picture itself that her followers took issue with, but the hashtag she decided to use. Including “throwback,” “follow back Friday,” and “white privilege,” at the end of her caption, Chelsea Handler triggered several fans.
When one person wrote, “You post against white privilege yet you live a more privileged life than most and flaunt it… what a joke! ??,” it caused a huge debate in the comment section. Some called the commenter a “hater” and told them to “get a life,” while others mirrored the fan’s outcry.
“Her posting on a boat in heels then hashtagging white privileged is making light of the whole situation. Just don’t [sic] hashtag it with that, fine no biggy,” a follower wrote back. Another person played devil’s advocate, commenting, “I understand both. Idc that she ‘has’ white privilege. I think it’s classless to joke about it that’s all. Comes off as she’s not sincere in really changing it, like it’s just comical to her.”
While many had a problem with Chelsea Handler’s “white privilege” bikini post, it still collected over 130k likes. She has yet to comment on the controversy.
