What Did Andrews Think Of The Possibility Of 'Princess Diaries 3?'

When Andrews spoke to Entertainment Tonight earlier this summer about reprising her role once again, the 87-year-old seemed a bit hesitant about the idea of reprising her role 21 years after the release of the first film.

According to our report, Andrews told the publication, "I don't know, I think I'm the one- she's [Hathaway] is probably still okay for it, but I might just be a little too old a granny for it. I don't know."

However, Andrews expressed her interest in the concept of the film's story, revealing she believed it would be "wonderful" if a script for a third film could come to fruition.

"It depends on what the story is," she continued to Entertainment Tonight, "and if they could come up with something, that would be wonderful, and if not, there would be other things."

What Are The Details About The Confirmed Film?

A third film in the 'Princess Diaries' franchise has officially been confirmed!

According to our report on the news, the producer of the original films, Debra Martin Chase, is on board to return and "Supergirl" writer Aadrita Mukerji is at the helm to write the script (per The Hollywood Reporter).

Hathaway has not officially signed on to play Princess Mia once again, but she is definitely charmed by the idea!

She told Entertainment Tonight, "I would more than entertain [returning for the third film]. I'm pulling for it. If there's any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we could make it work."

So, Will Andrews Be Making A Royal Return To Play Queen Clarisse?

Andrews spoke about the third film in an interview with Access Hollywood while promoting her new children's book, co-written with her daughter.

Unfortunately, the chances of seeing Andrews and Hathaway together on screen are slim. Andrews frankly told the outlet, "Yeah, I think we know it's probably not going to be possible. There was talk about, very shortly after 'two' came out, but it's now how many years since then? And I'm that much older, and Annie, the princess, the queen, is so much older, and I'm not sure whether it would float or run..."

Andrews' daughter, Emma Watson Hamilton, then added, "Maybe with another generation," to which Andrews replied, "Maybe, yes, but in terms of us doing it, I very much doubt that now. Something we'll do together, I hope," before adding that Hathaway is "a great friend." (per PopCulture.com)

Whether the duo will reprise their beloved roles in the 'Princess Diaries' franchise still remains to be seen, but the idea of a real-life royal friendship between Dame Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway may be just enough to keep fans afloat until the news of either actress' concrete confirmation comes through!
