“High School Musical” quickly became one of the most popular franchises in Disney Channel history.
Starring Zac Efron (Troy Bolton), Vanessa Hudgens(Gabriella Montez), Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth), Monique Coleman (Taylor McKessie), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay Evans), and Lucas Grabiel (Ryan Evans), the franchise went on to produce and release three films over the course of two years.
More recently, some of the cast reunited for a convention in Paris, where they met with fans and even shared stories from their time filming.

During one of the panels at the Paris convention, Vanessa Hudgens shared a story about filming "High School Musical."
She began by explaining how director Kenny Ortega told the entire cast not to stop dancing under any circumstances and to just keep going so that they could shoot the final scene of the film.
"Ashley [Tisdale] was right behind me and in the heat of the moment, I threw my arms up and pulled them back down and I hit Ashley right in the nose," Hudgens told the audience.

"And it didn't break, but it came close," she continued and the viewers began to laugh. "And she didn't stop because Kenny's like don't stop, so she's dancing and her eyes are watering and she's like 'You hit me in the face!' and I'm like 'I'm so sorry'," she continued.
Hudgens and Tisdale have remained close friends throughout the years, even still talking to one another to this day.
“High School Musical” Reunion Is In The Works
Fans of the "High School Musical" films know that original cast member Corbin Bleu returned to the franchise by appearing in the third season of the Disney+ original series, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”
The good news for fans is that after seeing the success of having Bleu return, the showrunner feels a reunion with all members is possible!
“High School Musical” showrunner Tim Federle recently spoke to TVLine on Bleu’s return to the franchise. “Corbin had such a good time this season, he said, ‘If you ever want me to come back, just know this has been so much fun,’” Federle explained.
The showrunner went on to explain how Bleu’s return had him thinking about bringing back the rest of the original cast — Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, and Lucus Grabiel, back into the story. “So that sort of inspired me to think, ‘What if our kids went back to school and had to be extras in a movie?’ Our show is so absurdly meta, it’s just going to turn into Inception one day. We’re really excited,” he said.
“I’m going to chalk that up to being a remarkable coincidence, but we’d love to get Zac and Vanessa and all of them back, so we’re actively working on that right now,” the “High School Musical” showrunner continued.
“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” has already been renewed for a fourth season on Disney+. Original cast members Monique Coleman (Taylor McKessie), Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans), Bart Johnson (Coach Jack Bolton), Alyson Reed (Ms. Darbus) and Kaycee Stroh (Martha Cox) will join the Disney+ series for the upcoming fourth season, according to Deadline.
Seasons one through three are currently streaming on Disney+, along with the three “High School Musical” films.
