Singer Hilary Duff is mourning the loss of Aaron Carter, who was reportedly found dead in a bathtub of his L.A. home on Saturday afternoon.

Not many details have been disclosed about his death so far; however, it's a shocking end to the 34-year-old brother of Nick Carter. Although he had started out his career as a pop idol himself, the "I Want Candy" singer struggled with mental health, drugs, and alcohol and was even pulled over for a suspected DUI only days before his death.

Many have been taking to social media to mourn his passing, including his ex, "How I Met Your Father" star Hilary Duff.

Hilary Duff Pays Tribute To Aaron Carter: 'Boy Did My Teenage Self Love You Deeply'

In a brief message on Instagram, the married mom-of-three wrote, "For Aaron-I'm deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world," she wrote. "You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent ... boy did my teenage self love you deeply."

"Sending love to your family at this time," she concluded. "Rest easy."

Their relationship reportedly began in 2001. They two reportedly dated on and off for three years, although there were rumors that their relationship overlapped with his relationship with "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan.

Although the "Lizzie McGuire" star married her second husband, Matthew Koma, in 2019, it seems that Carter still had some regrets about the way their relationship ended.
