Cynthia Bailey has finally opened up since her marriage with Fox Sports correspondent Mike Hill sadly came to an end, much to the surprise of fans.
The estranged couple announced their separation in October, and now, while appearing on the "Two Ts in a Pod" podcast, Bailey opened up about an interesting reason that led to the end of their marital bliss.
Cynthia Bailey Reveals End Of Friendship With Mike Hill Led To Their Divorce
Speaking with the podcast hosts Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, the multitalented actress revealed the "final straw" before the separation from her husband of about two years. She said:
"I felt like we weren't friends anymore. I felt like it was just going toward we're just not going to be friends if we didn't pump the brakes."
The 55-year-old further mentioned that her union with Hill was not her first, and she believed friendship always had to exist in a marriage. She then said, "Like, love is great, but friendship has to be there. I truly want to be with my best friend."
Bailey touched on how she felt about the whole situation, revealing that she had "good days" and "bad days." She felt neither she nor her ex regretted the decision to move on; even so, they are still going through the divorce process as it has not been finalized.
The model has a lot of respect on her end, given she is still "technically married" to Hill and believes he is still her husband. While the former couple was going through some things before the divorce announcement, Bailey did not take her wedding band off until the day the news was shared.
It all felt "weird" to her even though the twosome were on good terms as she revealed that there was "still a lot of husband and wife stuff" they had to sort out before finalizing the separation. Regarding the brilliant creative's next chapter in life, she teased listeners with a few details, including her possible feature in the thirteenth season of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
It was reported that she would join in as a friend of the cast while Mellencamp Arroyave would return full-time; however, Bailey was not so taken with the speculations and debunked them. She said:
"I don't know where this information came from, but it's not true. And if it was true, I would hope that I get to come back as a Housewife along with you, Teddi, and not a dag-on friend."
Not long before the "Without You I'm Nothing" star's discussion on the podcast, she cleared the air about infidelity rumors involving her husband and leading to their breakup.
The Blast reported that while denying the claims, she mentioned that their split was mutual and was not a "bad thing" for them, even with the generally negative perception of separations.
Bailey stressed that it was not a devastating ending and they had enough love and respect for each other to be honest, and ask clarifying questions about their marriage. Some of the questions she referred to included:
"Are we truly happy together? How do we want to move forward? And then who were brave enough and loved one another enough to make that choice together?"
The 5 feet 10 inches beauty also spoke of their upside in the marriage, which she credited to the knowledge they gained from previous relationships, including her first marriage to Peter Thomas.
And when asked if being unfaithful contributed to their divorce, she said, "There was no infidelity to my knowledge; Mike never had sex with another woman during our marriage."
The "Girls Trip" Actress Remains Grateful For Friendship With Ex-husband
At the time of Bailey's separation from her former spouse, The Blast shared her eventual statement in which she declared that God never made mistakes as she believed Hill'sappearance in her life was "destiny."
She also stated that she gave the marriage her all and would remain thankful for their "continued friendship and the beautiful memories" they made as a couple. The "RHOA" alum still hoped to find love again and added, "whatever is destined to be, will be," before expressing excitement for her "next chapter."
She prayed that her friends, family, and fans, whom she appreciated, would be along for the ride and then concluded her statement with gratitude for her loved ones' support, prayers, and well wishes.
