In an exclusive with PEOPLE, the star denied allegations against her ex-husband Mike Hill. She told the publication that their separation was mutual and peaceful and that "It may not seem like it when you think about divorce or a relationship ending, but this for us is not a bad thing."

She emphasized that it was not a tragic ending for them, and they had enough love and respect for each other, to be honest and ask hard-hitting questions about their marriage. The actress mentioned that some of the questions they asked themselves were:

"Are we truly happy together? How do we want to move forward? And then who were brave enough and loved one another enough to make that choice together."

Bailey added that the advantage they had was they learned from previous relationships, like her eight-year marriage to her first husband, Peter Thomas. The reality star cited it as an example of how they struggled a lot and made her decide that she would rather not wait long to leave a situation that was not serving her positively. In her words:

"We always said we never wanted to feel like we were just in this to be in this. We didn't want to settle for anything less than happy. And we just got to the point where, after really evaluating it, we felt we were better suited to be friends rather than trying to force something to work that wasn't working anymore."

When asked the main question if cheating was the reason, she said, "There was no infidelity to my knowledge. Mike never had sex with another woman during our marriage." Noting that the cause was because they outgrew each other.

The 55-year-old stressed that they lived apart in different areas when they first got together. When they finally got married and had to be with each other more consistently, they discovered that they were not as compatible as they initially thought.

Fans of the former couple might have difficulty getting used to the news as they were pretty invested in the relationship because of how well the pair looked on camera. US Magazine reminded followers how their relationship came about from the time they met on Steve Harvey's show after her divorce from Peter Thomas.

By November 2021, Hill faced cheating allegations when he was accused of sending nude photos to another woman. Bailey stood by her man and said in a statement to TMZ, "We're great. Rumors are rumors." After it seemed like they crossed that hurdle successfully, 2022 brought the end of their marriage, which they confirmed in a joint Instagram post.

Mike Hill Disclosed Marital Issues With Ex-wife Cynthia Bailey

In an interview with "Behind the Velvet Rope" podcast, he shared the story behind the tense fight on what was supposed to be a special day. The 52-year-old  said:

"Sunday was our anniversary, and then I took Monday off and had to go back to work on Tuesday. We basically stayed in town and went to this great hotel that's in town in West Hollywood, and we just chilled, went to dinner, and enjoyed each other's company."
