The 32-year-old began his NBA career with the Clippers, who picked him 18th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Bledsoe then went on to play with various other NBA teams including the Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans. The Milwaukee Bucks general manager Jon Horst spoke out earlier this year on his team and how one of his biggest priorities appeared to be bringing back a lot of his own players, including Bledsoe.

"Yeah, I think you’re right. There’s a priority to keep our core intact. And that’s actually a hard thing to do," Horst said. "Even just looking back on the last couple of years and the guys we’ve been able to extend and keep with us, the guys that we’ve re-signed in free agency — Brook (Lopez), Khris (Middleton), George (Hill), (Eric) Bledsoe, Jrue (Holiday), Bobby (Portis), Pat (Connaughton) — those things are a lot harder to do than I think people understand because they’re really good players playing for a really good team. And they have markets. And it’s free agency. At the end of the day, they choose us, whether they opt in or they opt out, whatever we kind of negotiate with them at the appropriate time. They choose us as much as we go after them."

He continued, "And for us, it means everything that they have repeatedly said yes to being part of our culture, part of our core. We think it’s the chance to play with Giannis (Antetokounmpo), absolutely. The chance to win at a high level and win at the highest level which we’ve done and then being part of our community. We think people genuinely love being part of the organization, but they also love living in Milwaukee, otherwise, they wouldn’t make those decisions. They’re not short on options. So it means a ton to us."

Bledsoe reportedly signed with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association just hours before the domestic violence arrest was made.
