An ex-boyfriend of Taylor Swift made the ultimate sacrifice and offered himself up to serve in the Ukraine war. He is now sharing his story.
Conor Kennedy Is Reluctantly Telling His Story
The soldier posted a photo of his “friend Nick” on Instagram in full uniform. He is crouched down with his back to the camera to show the words written on the back of the uniform. “I know this story is coming out, so I want to say my piece first to make the best of it and encourage others to take action,” he begins his lengthy post.
“Like many people, I was deeply moved by what I saw happening in Ukraine over the past year. I wanted to help. When I heard about Ukraine’s International Legion, I knew I was going, and I went to the embassy to enlist the next day.”
The 28-year-old is far from a traditional soldier; he is an actor and a socialite from the Kennedy family dynasty.
Conor Kennedy Making A Distance
The grandson of Robert Kennedy also shared that he was extremely discreet about the whole transition. "I told one person here where I was, and I told one person there my real name. I didn’t want my family or friends to worry, and I didn’t want to be treated differently there,” he notes admitting that he helped out where he could while he was there.
“Going in, I had no prior military experience and wasn’t a great shot, but I could carry heavy things and learned fast. I was also willing to die there. So they soon agreed to send me to the northeastern front.” Kennedy want’t there long, bit it was enough time to meet great, brave people.
Robert Kennedy Met The ‘Bravest’ People He’s Known
The model who dated Taylor Swift in 2012, humbly believe that what he has done is minor in compared to what he saw many of the people around him risking.
“My time in Ukraine wasn’t long but I saw a lot and I felt a lot. I liked being a soldier, more than I had expected. It is scary. But life is simple, and the rewards for finding courage and doing good are substantial.”
From the post, it sounded like his time in Ukraine was forcibly cut short. “My friends there know why I had to come home,” he writes mysteriously with no indication as to why for his followers. “I know I’m lucky I made it back, but I would also take all the risks we took over again,” he notes bravely.
Robert Kennedy Takes A Moment To Highlight The War
Kennedy writes, “This war, like all others, is horrific. The people I met were the bravest I have ever known. My fellow legionnaires — who came from different countries, backgrounds, ideologies — are true freedom fighters.”
He is very much giving off the vibes of his family and their fights over the years for the underdog. For the citizens of Ukraine, Kennedy writes, “I knew, many of whom have lost everything in their long struggle against oligarchy, and toward a democratic system. They know this isn’t a war between equals, it’s a revolution.”
He ended his message by encouraging his followers and others to help if they can. “I’ll only urge you to help in your personal capacity. Join the legion, help on the border, or send medical supplies. Every day, someone there sacrifices everything for a lasting peace. They can’t be asked to act alone.”
