George Floyd Family Threatens To Sue Kanye West For $250 Million

Kanye West may have a long legal battle ahead of him. George Floyd’s family members are threatening to sue the rapper for $250M.

Floyd’s daughter, Gianna, and her mother, Roxie Washington, have had enough of West running their deceased family member's name through the mud with falsities. Washington and Gianna, announced this week that she has hired lawyers and is ready to take on West if he insists on continuing his hate speech and lies.

She is also roping in the rapper’s business partner and other associates for harassment,  misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress. If you remember, West claimed that Floyd wasn't murdered by Minneapolis police but instead blamed drug use. “They hit [Floyd] with the fentanyl. If you look, the guy's knee wasn't even on his neck like that.”

He has also taunted the family and others by creating designs for his fashion brand that boast the phrase “White Lives Matter” on the back.

In a cease and desist obtained by TMZ, lawyer Alex Spiro states:

“The Witherspoon Law Group on behalf of our clients, hereby demands that you immediately cease and desist, and remove the “Drink Champs” interview and all similar statements regarding George Floyd from every podcast, website, advertisement, and social media site, no matter the platform or medium.”

For the record, the hosts of Drink Champs have already removed the episode in addition to renouncing anything that West said on their drinking and chatting podcast. that was smart of them because they very well could be the b"associates" the family's lawyers mention in the letter. 

The cease and desist also gave us insight into the mainframe of Gianna and her mother Roxie. “As you can guess, our clients are very distressed and hurt by the allegations that you made.”

Lee Merritt, a lawyer who regularly comments on the case and is an associate of the family shared a statement on Instagram about the pending lawsuit. “

Ye’s statements concerning the death of #GeorgeFloyd are knowingly false and foreseeably offensive to members of Floyd’s immediate family who have been retraumatized by his malicious comments.”

The lawyer spoke with TMZ about the incident and posted a video of the interview. Further down in the accompanying caption, Merritt shares that Floyd’s brother is also seeking legal action.

“When asked by the brother of George Floyd to investigate potential legal remedies on his behalf my office agreed to provide our professional opinion concerning legal recourse. Recent cases, like the one involving family members of victims of the Sandy Hook mass shooting against Alex Jones, provide precedent for recovery under several plausible theories which we are now considering.”

That sound like two possible lawsuits for West who apparently has been spending money like crazy. He may want to start saving his coins to cover the possible legal ramifications heading in his direction.
