Robert Irwin recently spoke about how he's honoring Dad Steve Irwin's legacy by carrying on his message of kindness. The TV personality said his Dad taught him to always appreciate the natural world and treat everyone with kindness. His Dad, Steve, was a famous wildlife expert and environmentalist that died in 2006.

Robert shared that he inherited his love for photography from his Dad, who loved "getting out and taking images."

The Irwin family recently paid tribute to Steve on September 4th, the 16th anniversary of his tragic death. His daughter, Bindi, posted a throwback picture and wrote about how Steve would have been an amazing grandfather. Robert paid tribute with a message about how he misses Steve and sends love to those who have lost their Dads.

During an interview with E! News, Robert spoke about how he's trying to honor his father, Steve's legacy by following in his footsteps as a wildlife expert and environmentalist. He said, "I think what dad really showed the world was, of course, to have that appreciation for the natural world and to treat every living being on this planet as you would wish to be treated."

The "Wild But True" star said it was a lesson Steve also taught his kids before his death. Robert also said, "I think that's something that I'll always carry with me. I think that more than anything, I would hope that I really continue this message that life is short and we have to live every day to the fullest."

When Steve died in 2006 from a deadly stingray barb stab to the chest, he left behind his wife, Terri, Robert, and his daughter, Bindi. His death shocked the world as he was just 44 years old and in good health. Sixteen years later, Robert wants to fulfill his father's dreams by embodying his message of kindness and spreading it to the world.

He said, "We have to create as much positive change as we can for our environment and for our fellow humans as well. And just to treat one with kindness, and I think he exemplified that perfectly. And I'll always just feel so lucky that I had the most amazing Dad in the world, who was literally a superhero."

A month before Steve Irwin Day, Robert announced that he was releasing a new photography book titled, "Robert Irwin's Australia." He made a post about the book on his Instagram, calling it a "story of natural beauty, environmental turmoil, and hope told through my lens."

Robert wrote, "It's a proud moment for me and a passion project that has been years in the making. Discover my perspective of this incredible country, and how photography and conservation go hand in hand." During the E! News interview, Robert also shared that he inherited his love for photography from his father, who loved "getting out and taking images."

On September 4th, the 16th anniversary of Steve's tragic death, Bindi and Robert paid tribute to their father with separate social media posts. Bindi posted a throwback photo of her and Steve in matching headlamps as she held a baby alligator. She also revealed the heartwarming nickname she gave her father.

Bindi wrote, "Grandpa Crocodile, I know you would've been the most incredible grandfather because you were such an extraordinary dad. Thank you for being an amazing guardian angel for Grace." Grace is Bindi's 17-month-old daughter with her husband, Chandler Powell.

Robert paid tribute to his father in a separate post. He wrote, "It's Father's Day today in Australia, and I am sending my love to those who are missing their Dad today. I cherish all the good times with my Dad and feel grateful to be able to keep his memory and legacy alive."
