She's Shifting The Narrative

“Also, I was not excited about the stereotypical roles being offered to me at the time. Especially after working on the film LOST RIVER -that was a dream project. That’s a tough act to follow,” her note continued. “Whats the point of this post? To shift that narrative. I never quit. ♥️”

Her brother, Carlos Mendez, commented on the post, “Let them know sis.”

“The narrative is yours chica! ??,” another verified follower commented.

“Haha I feel ya mama - there is a book that came out recently attacking the wellness space and they said you don’t see vani in the media that much - ahhhhh because I had babies and shifted my priorities! Hellllllo! Not bc I stopped working or let the food industry goons try to discredit me as the book implied,” one understanding follower added.

“And you are doing the best job ever! In the end, those babies will have memories that no amount of screen time could replace,” they wrote.

The Blast previously reported on Eva’s thoughts about her role as a mother.

She has been on a years-long hiatus from acting.

The mother-of-two stepped back from the limelight of Hollywood in 2014 after the birth of her first daughter, Esmeralda.

Mendes hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2014’s “Lost River,” which was directed by her partner, Gosling.

In 2020, Mendes took to Instagram to explain her acting hiatus.

“As a mother now, there are many roles I won't do. There are many subject matters that I don't want to be involved with, so it limits my choices and I'm fine with that. I have to set an example for my girls now," Mendes wrote.

She became a first-time mother in 2014 and once again in 2016 when she gave birth to another daughter, Amada.

Back in 2018, Mendes spoke to E! News about her little ones.

“I'm just so obsessed with my kids that I don't want to leave them. They're just still so little,” she said at the time.

Then in 2019, Mendes spoke to Access Daily about parenting with Gosling.

“Oh gosh, it’s so fun and beautiful and maddening. It’s maddening,” she admitted. “It’s so hard, of course. But it’s like that feeling of like, really, you end your day, you put them to bed, and Ryan and I kind of look at each other like, ‘We did it, we did it. We came out relatively unscathed, you know?’”

She explained there are very strict circumstances that would get her acting again.

“I have such a short list of what I will do,” she said. “Before kids, I mean, if it was a fun project… but now I won’t do violence, I don’t want to do sexuality; the list is short,” Mendes revealed. “It has to be nice and clean.”
