Actor Ryan Gosling recently spoke about landing a role in the Marvel cinematic universe.

He denied speculations that he had been signed on to star in the superhero film "Nova."

"I don't know anything about Nova if that's what you're going to ask me," he told reporter Josh Horowitz during a recent interview.

"I was waiting for the Captain Canada call," the actor joked.

Captain Canada initially appeared in Captain Newfoundland, a Canadian comic strip published in the Newfoundland Herald in 1979.

Marvel showrunners are yet to reveal if they have any discussions with Gosling about a Marvel role.

Angelina Jolie, Oscar Isaac, Emilia Clarke, amongst others, have recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gosling starred as a CIA black ops agent on the run in the action thriller "The Gray Man."

Gosling will also portray Ken in the upcoming romantic comedy film "Barbie."
