Demi Lovato has had quite the career. Beginning as a child actor on “Barney & Friends” and quickly moving to Disney Channel as a teenager who grew up right in front of the world, the actress/singer (who uses both she/her and they/them pronouns) has been through a lot.
Recently, Demi celebrated turning 30 years old. After hitting this big birthday milestone, the actress/singer is reflecting on their life and looking forward to the future.
Demi Lovato Looks Forward to the Future
On August 20, Demi Lovato turned 30 years old, an age that she actually never thought she would hit. The “Camp Rock” actress is opening up to SPIN magazine, reflecting on their childhood acting and their battle with addiction.
In reference to hitting the 30th birthday milestone, the “Heart Attack” singer said, “That’s something I thought was impossible to do. Even in bouts of sobriety, my depression was so strong that I didn’t think I’d get here today. But here I am.”
Now that the actress is healing and reached their 30th birthday, she is looking forward to what the future holds, including the possibility of starting a family. “I’m in a new chapter in my life, and I don’t know what my 30s have in store for me, but hopefully a family one day,” they said.
Looking to this next chapter in their life, Demi Lovato wants to really focus on themselves and take life slow. When speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the actress said, “It feels like a door that’s opening to a whole new chapter of my life. Through that door I see things like taking time off for myself to work on my spirituality, to travel to places that I want to go to that I’ve never been.”
“Then, once I do that, take time off to start a family, to raise children,” they continued, “Things that bring me joy outside of this industry because this industry is all that I’ve known since I was a child.”
Reflecting Back On Demi Lovato’s Life
Demi Lovato got her big acting break in 2002 on “Barney & Friends,” when they were just 10 years old. A few years later, they moved to Disney Channel where they played the role of Charlotte Adams on the short series “As the Bell Rings.”
The actress is probably best known in the Disney Channel world for their roles in Disney Channel Original Movie “Camp Rock” and the Disney Channel television series “Sonny with a Chance.”
Growing up literally in front of the entire world is not easy, and unfortunately, the “Melon Cake” singer learned that the hard way.
“Sometimes I have a big mouth,” they continued to tell the outlet. “As I get older, I’m trying to learn to be more private. I think I do give too much insight to people into my life, and I have to think, do people deserve that? I’m sure by the time I’m 35, my mouth will be glued shut because I’m tired of talking about myself. And I’m sure people are tired of hearing me talk about myself.”
“It hasn’t been a perfect journey,” the 30-year-old continued. “It’s been so difficult to get where I’m at today. The changes that I’ve made—I’m honoring all of my emotions, not just the positive ones.”
