Bertinelli explained that she was selling off these luxurious items to let go of the toxicity that she experienced during her union with Vitale. In her words, "Dropped a few things off with @therealreal. A couple of Tiffany rings that have some bad memories attached and a pair of shoes I wore to a wedding in January 2011. They should be up in a couple of weeks!"

Although lighthearted, her caption appeared to carry a heavy undertone. The post garnered lots of love and support from her fans and loved ones, who left sweet comments, encouraging and rooting for her. Her son, Wolfgang Van Halen, led the lovely remarks, writing, "Love you, Ma ❤️❤️❤️."

Bertinelli's decision to let go of some of her wedding items comes almost five months after she officially filed for divorce from Vitale. As previously reported by The Blast, the "Sydney" actress decided to divorce the financial planner after ten years of marriage.

The pair began dating in 2004 and married on January 1, 2011, in Malibu, California. The "One Day At a Time" alum became a stepmother to four of Vitale's children during the union while bringing her child Wolfgang Van Halen into the mix.

Unfortunately, their sweet romance did not last for long, as they started experiencing marital woes in the early stages of their marriage. This prompted them to split up until their concerns were addressed.  However, this did not last for long as the "Kids Baking Championship" host filed for divorce in May at a Los Angeles courthouse, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the basis for the breakup.

Before filing for divorce, the Food Network personality filed for a legal separation. At the time, there were speculations as to whether the pair were going to reconcile or call it quits. But, it seems the end of their journey as a couple is here.

The popular TV host shares no child with her ex-partner, and a prenuptial agreement was signed before the marriage. Hence, making the divorce procedure less messy and tedious.

Vitale Demands Spousal Support From The Two-time Emmy Award Winner

Nevertheless, the divorce proceeding has been anything but easy. Back in June, things got heated between the estranged partners when Vitale made some controversial requests.

Per reports, Vitale requested spousal support from Bertinelli while denying the "Boston Legal" actress from receiving the same from him. Furthermore, he contested the validity of their prenuptial agreement signed about a month before their wedding, even though the prenup was in "full force and entirely binding on both parties" as regards all properties obtained in the marriage.

Bertinelli and Vitale's divorce saga initially came as a shock to the public as the television personality was fond of her then-husband and confessed to being happier in her marriage with him.

She once said, "I could have spent the rest of my life with Tom and not be married, but I wanted to call him 'my husband'. I really wanted to share how I feel about Tom with the people I love."

Unfortunately, that is now all in the past as the "Apple's Way" star revealed that she and Vitale drifted from the interests that made them a couple. She shared the justification for the divorce in her memoir "Enough Already: Learning to Love the Way I Am Today."
