A shy Wolfgang who watched his mother gush over him also talked about what his nomination would have meant to his late father. "He would be losing his mind, but also, at the same time, he would be like, 'duh,' because that's how much he believed in me."

Wolfgang, who got his first-ever Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song for the tune "Distance," which he dedicated to Eddie spoke about being nominated alongside other legends in the Rock n' Roll sphere.

"It is certainly insane to be in the same category as a Beatle and Dave Grohl for songwriting, so, that's why it feels like I am dreaming this right now," he gushed.

The award ceremony was indeed a family affair as the mother-son duo was joined by Wolfgang's longtime girlfriend Andraia Allsop who expressed immense pride in her man.

"I'm not sure I will be listening, just because it's just crazy to be here. I think if it does end up happening, I will go deaf and then we will see what happens," he confessed to the interviewer.

While that didn't end up happening, Wolfie handled the loss with grace, maintaining a posture of gratitude that he got to be nominated in the first place.

The "Don't Back Down" singer took to Twitter after the award ceremony to address his fans. He began the lengthy statement, writing, We came, we saw, but we did NOT conquer and that’s ok! I got to have a wonderful night with the two most important women in my world."

He continued, "Such an honor to be nominated for the first song I ever released on my own, in a category with artists I have looked up to my entire life. I don't know if that'll ever settle in."

Remembering his late father, Wolfgang wrote, "Pop didn’t win the first time he was nominated too, so it looks like I’m following in his footsteps quite nicely. Who knows what the future holds."

He concluded, expressing gratitude for the "wild experience" of being Grammy-nominated and thanking his fans and the Recording Academy for the recognition and support.
