Dog The Bounty Hunter is paying tribute to one of the most legendary rock stars of all time, Eddie Van Halen after the guitarist died following a long battle with cancer.

Duane Chapman posted a picture of the 'Van Halen' rocker along with a tribute to the star. "Sad news today, (Eddie Van Halen) passed away from Cancer. Our prayers are with his loved ones. A guitar genius whose music will live forever ?," he wrote.

As you know, Dog dealt with his own tragedy involving the deadly disease, after losing his wife Beth to throat cancer.

According to reports, the rocker died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica on Tuesday, and his wife Janie and ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli were by his side. Eddie's brother, Alex, and son Wolfgang joined the family at his bedside.

Eddie's son broke the news of his father's death on Instagram, saying, "I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning."

He continued:

He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift.My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop.

Eddie's Cancer Battle Takes Downhill Turn In Last Few Days...

According to one report, Eddie's condition worsened in the last 72 hours after doctors discovered his lung cancer had moved to his brain and other organs.

Eddie Van Halen has been battling cancer for over 10 years, and he has been in and out of the hospital including issues with is intestines. Up until the end, he continued to fight and went through chemotherapy.

Interestingly, Eddie was a heavy smoker for many years but believed he developed throat cancer from a metal guitar pick he held in his mouth on stage as a young rock star.

Tons of celebrities took to social media to send heartfelt messages to the Van Halen family, including Dog, who sent a message to Eddie's son that they were in his prayers.

As you know, Dog is recently engaged to a Colorado woman after losing his wife to a similar longtime battle with cancer. His soon-to-be wife, Francie Frane, also lost her husband and their losses have helped the couple get very close, very quickly.

Sadly, several 'Dog The Bounty Hunter' fans sent messages to the reality star hoping that Eddie will say hello to Beth for them. I think we can all agree with this one, "Heaven has a hell of a band ? ."
