Mama June Skips Honey Boo Boo's Birthday, Apologizes Via TEXT!

TV personality Mama June Shannon recently sent her estranged 17-year-old daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, a lengthy birthday apology text message. The reality star lost custody of the 17-year-old to her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon this year, after months of a strained relationship with her family. 

The reality star did not join the rest of Honey Boo Boo’s family to attend her birthday party; however, she sent across a birthday message telling the 17-year-old how proud she was. She also apologized and promised that she would do better this time around and work through her weak areas.

Reality star Honey Boo Boo just turned 17, and the teen decided to mark the date with a birthday party. She had several of her family in attendance, like her sister and legal guardian, Pumpkin and her family, as well as Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon. The 17-year-old’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, was also a part of the festivities. 

However, according to TMZ, one family member was noticeably absent from the event. Mama June was reportedly unable to make it to the birthday, although she sent a text message to the celebrant, wishing her birthday and apologizing for her past actions. 

The 43-year-old was largely absent from Honey Boo Boo and her sisters’ lives for several months. Her continued absence resulted from her 2019 arrest for cocaine possession with Geno Doak, her boyfriend at the time. 

Mama June’s birthday text didn’t only wish her 17-year-old a happy birthday. The reality star also apologized for everything she had done and put Honey Boo Boo through in the past and told her how proud of her she was. 

In the text message shared by TMZ, the 43-year-old wrote, “I know I have put u through a lot, and I’m sorry, but I’m here now whenever u need me. I know I’m not perfect by no means, but I’m trying my best. I know there is ALOT to be worked on and worked through, but I have confidence that I will.”

Mama June also revealed that in response to her heartfelt text message, Honey Boo Boo thanked her and said she loved her too. Besides the text message, the reality star also gifted her daughter shoes worth $400. The Low Triple Pink Nike Dunks have reportedly been ordered and will get to the 17-year-old sometime this week. 

The relationship between Mama June and her family noticeably started going south in 2019. The mother of four was caught with cocaine and narrowly escaped jail time; however, her boyfriend at the time, who was with her, was imprisoned for 16 months. 

TMZ broke the news at the time of the arrest revealing that the reality star was also caught with a pipe and a needle in her car. The police were called to the scene after someone reported a domestic altercation between her and her then-boyfriend. In addition to possession of a controlled substance, Doak was also arrested for drug paraphernalia and domestic violence/harassment. 

After patting Mama June down, a glass pipe with white residue was found in her, while another container with a white-controlled substance was discovered in her drug compartment. She admitted to the white substance being crack cocaine. 

Page Six revealed that a Georgia Judge had signed over sole custody of Honey Boo Boo to her older sister, Pumpkin. The 22-year-old was allowed to decide on Mama June’s visitation rights; however, Mama June was allowed to talk to Honey Boo Boo on the phone daily. 

The 43-year-old was also mandated by the court to fork over $800 to Pumpkin as child support until the reality star turns 18. The court documents produced by Page Six revealed that the “From Hot to Not” star was making around $25,000 every month. 

However, the amount was dependent on Mama June’s production and endorsement. At the time of the filing, the 43-year-old’s show had not been renewed for another season, making her monthly income $1,015.00. 

Pumpkin was given guardianship earlier on in August 2019, however, only temporarily. The move was made shortly after Mama June was arrested for drug possession that year. Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, her father, reportedly gave permission.
